Rarely has a new Teufel speaker model been greeted with as much excitement as the elegant aluminium column speakers of the LT 6 and LT 7 released in 2006. As numerous customers and editors have informed us, Teufel is finally offering elegant and fantastic-sounding column speakers in the highest performance class. The only criticism to be heard involved the massive size of the column. But pure THX sound demands its tribute in the form of speaker size.

Perfect match to modern spaces
Nonetheless, the message from our customers did not fall upon deaf ears. Our development engineers immediately began working on designing a column speaker system that offers great sound, luxurious and first-class workmanship and is suitable for home installation. The LT 5 includes most of the best features offered by its larger sister model, yet does not come the THX license, focusing instead on improved integration in modern homes.

Graceful look
The most noticeable differences are the significantly reduced height of the columns (126 cm) and the compact form of the aluminium profile. This lends the high-gloss L 520 FR speakers a graceful appearance. Another new feature is the rounded form of the baffles in between the side frames.

Flush-fitting metal grill
The flush fitting metal grilles ensure that sound emission is not hindered by the edges.

High acoustic standards
The speaker chassis was also selected based on high acoustic requirements. Two 130 mm woofers, an 80 mm cone midrange and a 25 mm cloth dome tweeter are used in the identically configured column and satellite speakers.

Identical configuration
To ensure that the horizontal centre speaker and upright L 520 FR and FCR speakers have same sound reproduction properties in terms of acoustics and range, the tweeter and midrange drivers are arranged vertically in the L 520 C as well.

Combine freely
This configuration ensures a uniform and impressive surround sound quality from the L 520 FR column speaker and L 520 FCR compact satellite speaker, regardless of how they are combined with one another.

Versatility
The system is available either with two column speakers, a centre speaker, a subwoofer, and two compact satellite speakers or with four column speakers, a centre speaker and subwoofer. The speakers can even be used as individual components for a custom combination or to supplement another system. The flexibility to adapt to your needs is the trump card of the LT 5!

Note
LT 5 is delivered with spikes for the L 520 FR column speakers, wall mounts for the FCR satellite speakers and centre speaker and a table mount. The LT 5 does not include connection cables and other accessories. You can order matching accessories from our webshop.

The columns
Despite their 126 centimeters in height, the L 520 FR columns feature an astoundingly graceful look. Their slightly rounded enclosure walls do more than just look good. Their seamless transition to the metal speaker grilles ensures sound unadulterated by corner reflections.

Identical enclosures
To ensure that the LT® 5's horizontal center speaker delivers acoustics identical to the vertical L 520 FR and FCR speakers, the high- and mid-range drivers of the L 520 C are placed on top of one another. This ensures a high degree of tonal fidelity and an impressive surround sound stage. Thanks to this configuration, all available combinations of the L 520 FR columns and the L 520 FCR satellites are guaranteed to sound excellent.

Setup
The LT® 5 is delivered with floor spikes for the L 520 FR standing speakers. This ensures a stable base, and makes it easy to conceal the loudspeaker cables. Wall mounts of made of solid materials are included with the L 520 FCR and center speakers. The L 520 C also comes equipped with a table stand. Because they're acoustically identical, the L 520 FCR satellite speakers can be used as front speakers with the column speakers serving the back of the room, or vice-versa. Configure the system in a way that suits your living arrangement.

The subwoofer
A generously proportioned power amplifier makes 300 watts of RMS power available for the LT® 5's 300 mm bass driver, and 500 watts of musical performance. Teufel's DPU reflex system eliminates current noise. A glowing, red Teufel logo signifies operability, while light diodes signify the settings selected via the systems's remote control. Adjust the phase (0 or 180 degrees) and filter characteristics (individual operation or LFE via the AV receiver).

Column Speaker L 520 FR (pc.)

It is rare to find high-quality column speakers that are as perfectly suited to home theatres as these. 1.26 m in height, 16 cm wide and only 14 cm deep, these elegant towers can be placed discreetly in the background or moved forwards to a more prominent location where they add a touch of exclusiveness to your home theatre.

The drivers in these speakers guarantee excellent sound. The long-throw 130 mm woofer is equipped with a phase plug, which ensures that bass frequencies remain very linear. The 80 mm mid-range cone driver faithfully reproduces the mid frequencies between 400 and 3000 Hz, and the extremely light-weight 25 mm fabric dome tweeter provides highs that are both finely detailed and punchy.

These elegant column speakers are made of solid 2 mm aluminium and the tinted glass base plate is fitted with metal spikes to hold each speaker firmly in place. The solid connector terminals are compatible with speaker cables of up to 4 mm in diameter and are recessed into the bases of each column speaker, thus hiding them from view.

The baffles on the slightly rounded sides of the speaker contribute to the special acoustic properties of the L 520 FR. The smooth transition between the front and the sides of the cabinet prevent negative acoustic effects that would otherwise result from hard edges.

Satellite Speaker L 520 FCR (pc.)

With one exception, the compact LT 5 satellites – useable as either front and/or rear speakers – are identical to the centre channel speaker. Since the L 520 FCR is intended to be set up vertically, the tweeter and mid-range drivers are situated above each other as with the column speakers. This ensures that all channels are reproduced identically in terms of sound, even in home theatres where two column speakers are used for the front channels and two satellites are mounted to the rear wall as the rear channels.

Note: The L 520 FCR is equipped with brackets at the rear so that you can mount it to a wall.

Centre Speaker L 520 C

This is the only horizontal speaker in the LT 5 ensemble and it can be placed on a shelf or below a TV. The centre speaker harmonises perfectly with the two identically equipped front speakers to produce a well-balanced and thus realistic listening experience.

Our development team was careful to ensure that all frequency ranges are evenly represented in these speakers. Thus the dome tweeter and mid-range cone driver are also situated above each other on the horizontal centre channel speaker.

This speaker includes a special metal-glass stand permanently fastened to the rear of this cabinet so that it is always held firmly in place.

Subwoofer L 5200 SW

The sub-bass of the LT 5 system is provided by a subwoofer whose new and remakably thin Teufel design conceals the brute force of its bass delivery.

Hidden behind the front aluminium panels lies a powerful 300 mm woofer capable of filling a 50 m2 space with home cinema quality sound. The woofer is aided by a DPU reflex system especially developed by Teufel to prevent air flow noise from causing bass distortion.
The amply dimensioned amplifier supplies up to 300 W RMS power and 500 W music power. The red glowing Teufel logo indicates when the unit is on, and the LEDs display the current phase (0 or 180 degrees) and filter settings (independent mode or LFE via AV receiver). You can set these parameters using a remote control.

Even an attack by a four-legged metal robot shaped like a ball involving ultra-deep bass doesn’t seem to make a particular impression on the L5200SW. It cleanly reproduces the sound part at volume and, when necessary, with depth – without being mushy or annoying. The satellites are quickly and easily hung up thanks to the integrated wall fixtures at the back of the speakers. The centre horizontal placement of the L 520 C differs from the other loudspeakers in the arrangment of the midrange and high drivers. These are in the middle by one another and are flanked on both sides by the bass drivers - which has big advantages for the distributing properties of the loudspeaker but causes a minimal adaption of the frequency point circuit. The subwoofer L provides the necessary pump in the 5200 SW frequency response with its hefty 300 mm woofer and 500 watt active module. The listening session begins with the expectation of seeing what the front loudspeakers and the subwoofer in stereo mode can do. Already at low volume strength this combination surprises through its sound on a very impressive and broad stage, off of which it interprets and plays the instruments section clearly and articulately. The vocals are handled by the main loudspeakers and are brought neutrally forward, with the frequency response slightly raised from about 3,000 Hz. However, the stress here is only minimal – the loudspeakers never play too superficially or sharply. In the bass area the subwoofer merges extremely well with the satellites and this is an achievement – with excellent precision and completely stress-free it plays even at very high volumes, even in our large listening area. The appearance of the Teufel ensemble with DTS-Multichannel makes clear that the decision to use the same loudspeaker drivers in the LT 5 satellites pays off in spades. Tonally there are no disturbances, and the set is very exact and homogeneous – raining down like a downpour. The set is also absolutely on par with film tone reproduction – not that we expected any differently. On the English frigate "HMS Surprise", Captain Jack Aubrey’s directions and orders were brought across clearly and understandably and detailed the seriousness of the situation to spectators, nevertheless, even with the attack of the French right on the brink. Every tiny detail is accurately brought forward and contributes to the elegantly structured sound picture. In action flicks such as "I, Robot", or "Mission Impossible 3" really show what the subwoofer is made of. The subwoofer uses the right anmount of pressure to get those deep dark sounds pushed out through the room and doesn't bring anything out of balance, either. No disturbing noises clouded our listening pleasure; enough to where we felt challenged and really cranked the volume – to no avail. The subwoofer matched us crank for crank and showed us the unmistakeablen reserves it had. Regardless, the LT 5 sounds just great. The solid bass foundation is nicely matched by the mids and highs. The dialogue clarity is flawless. And there isn't a trace of metallic-sounding top frequencies. Highly recommended!
