Modern shelf speaker Configured as a classic two-way speaker, the T 80 FCR profits from two high-quality drivers for the high- and mid-ranges. Solid enclosure volume ensures an audio roundness which micro-satellites or smaller column speakers simply can't. That's why Theater 80 is good for HiFi music as well as Blu-ray and DVD playback.
Acoustic optimization The Theater 80's sweeping enclosure isn't just optically appealing, it eliminates disruptive corners. This improves the speakers' directional characteristics.
Five identical loudspeakers
Theater 80 generates an harmonious overall field of sound. Five identical T 80 FCR speakers carry the load - a simple and extraordinarily functional solution. The T 80 FCR intended to transmit speech in cinema is delivered with a horizontal cover so it can be placed under the TV, for instance.
Optimal for spaces up to 30 sqm Theater 80 sounds best in spaces up to 30 sqm. It's important to keep in mind that this calculation is based only on usable listening area - any peripheral space like a breakfast nook should be discounted. In the case of rooms with particularly high ceilings - more than 3.5 metres - it's necessary to multiply the surface area by a factor of 1.5. However, the set can also be used in larger-than-reccomended spaces for softer ambient sound. When in doubt, please contact our hotline at: +49 (0)30 300 9 300.
Excellent musicality Theater 80 is a perfect system for musical playback, in part because its satellites are formatted as classic "shelf speakers." They're without a doubt a solid replacement for existing stereo speakers. You don't have to sacrifice quality stereo sound to enjoy a home cinema.
Combine with an AV receiver The Theater 80 is a partially active system, which means you'll need an AV Receiver for working it. The subwoofer delivers 150 watts of pure performance from a Class D amplifier.
Connect the line-in plug of the T 800 SW subwoofer to the sub-out plug of the AV receiver using Teufel subwoofer cable. Then connect the five satellites to the speaker outputs of the AV receiver using loudspeaker cable - that's where they'll draw their power from. Source devices like DVD players, PCs, TVs, etc. are connected directly to the inputs of the AV receiver. You can find a list of recommended AV receivers on our homepage. Keep in mind, however, that earlier or later models - as well as technically identical devices - can also be used.

Additional options - cables For optimal sound quality, we recommend using Teufel's optionally-available 2.5 sqmm loudspeaker cable. For clean bass, we recommend using Teufel subwoofer cable.
Additional options - speaker stands and wall mounts Teufel sells optionally-available speakers stands to freely place the satellite speakers throughout the room with. Wall mounts are also available, and make horizontal and vertical swiveling possible. You can order these additional accessories through our web shop.
Setting up Theater 80 - general instructions When setting up a home cinema system like Theater 80, it makes sense to focus on the area which will actually be used - the area around where the TV/screen and sofa/seating is located. Locating the TV/screen centrally makes the setup significantly easier. The recommended set-up information below represents the best possible arrangement for perfect multi-channel playback in your home. Your available space, your partner or your furniture may not always allow you to arrange the speakers in the ideal manner. Try to meet as many of the requirements as possible. Modern AV Receivers offer numerous options for compensating electronically for any compromises in the set up. Generally speaking, the following rule always applies: you can always use our recommendations to experiment with what works best acoustically and optically. Let your ears (and eyes) decide!
Setting up the center Because the center speaker reproduces actors' dialogue, the speaker must be positioned as centrally as possible under or over the TV/screen. It can be angled towards or away from the speaker. The Theater 80's center speaker can be operated vertically or horizontally.
Setting up the front loudspeaker Using the old stereo tradition (distance to listener = distance between the left and right speaker), the front speakers are set up next to the TV with the same distance to left and right; positioning the column speakers as closely to the wall as possible would be ideal. If these values must be outside the recommended range, you can slightly tilt the front speakers up or down towards the listening area. It is important that the centre and front speakers are placed in an even arc, possibly slightly curved towards the TV. Otherwise possible run-time differences can affect the homogeneity of the playback.
Setting up the subwoofer
With a separation frequency of 100 Hz, the subwoofer is best placed in a straight line between the two front satellites. This bass driver can also be freely placed around the room. Keep in mind, though, that the round speaker hole on the T 800 SW is at least 20 cm away from the wall.
Setting up the rear speakers When it comes to positioning the Theater 80's rear loudspeakers, you have following options:
A. To the left and right of the listening spot. The front part with the Teufel logo is facing the listener.
B. To the left and right of the listening spot. The front part with the Teufel logo is angled out and away from the listener.
C. To the left and right of the listening spot - ideally a mirror image of the front speakers. The front part with the Teufel logo is facing the listener and TV.

One option is to put both the rear and front speakers at the same height - otherwise the rear speakers should be mounted on a wall, for instance, at a height of 2.1 metres. The rear speakers should be 1 metre way from the listening location. If space requirements mean the rear speakers must be closer, then it makes sense to angle them out into the room slightly. Alternately, the rear speakers can be placed higher up to increase their distance from the listening location to 1 metre.
