Dipole Speaker S 500 D

The S 500 D is the first dipole rear speaker to be certified according to THX-Select 2 standards.

A shared 130 mm woofer provides the foundation for this 3-way speaker, while 100 mm midrange drivers and 25 mm dome tweeters on front and back emit the sound in reversed polarity. The percentage of sound emitted directly is minimised – the listener will hear the sound as it is reflected by the walls.

This creates a sweepingly spacious sound environment not possible with conventional direct-emitting rear speakers. It is this omni-directional resonance inherent in dipole construction which contributes decisively to the riveting effect of this type of authentic sound reproduction.

The speaker grilles are realised as cover hoods on both sides to reduce the “diffraction” effect - no need for nuts and bolts. Built-in brackets allow for the indispensable wall mounting of the dipoles and let them work their acoustic magic.
