Overview of our technologies
The TURN is a pair of headphones that know how to generate deep, powerful levels. But that’s not all. Our developers here in Berlin made sure that the TURN also has a light touch, able to reproduce fine details and extremely natural playback thanks to the following:
- Linear frequency response ensures harmonious sound
- Lightweight driver membranes for high-definition playback
- Large 40 mm drivers generate high, distortion-free levels
- Roomy ear cups allow a 3-dimensional soundstage to unfold
A large articulated dial on the left ear cup makes it easy switch between an enhanced bass mode and neutral playback. On or off, you’ll still enjoy a balanced differentiation of all sonic elements.
The TURN’s low impedance tuning ensures powerful, highly detailed playback with strong bass from every source device whether MP3 player, smartphone, television, PC or notebook.
Thanks to its closed design and excellent sound isolating properties, the TURN is well suited for use on commutes or even as a DJ headphone. The large soft ear cups are extremely comfortable. They also keep your music from leaking out and outside noise from intruding into your sonic oasis. The comfortable headband can be easily adjusted for a perfect fit.
Along with a stylish TURN bag, a 1.3 m long cable (with 3.5 mm mini jack) is included with delivery. The fabric covering on the cable effectively reduces microphonics.
The cable can be removed and features a gold-plated jack and plug.

"[T]he most important functions on a device of this sort are controlled by the DecoderStation 5 Mk2 that is about the size of a set-top box and can be placed just about anywhere. This is the heart of the home cinema setup and has an astonishingly far-reaching feature set that offers a full four digital (two optical and two coaxial) and four analogue inputs as well as a true decoder armada (DTS, DTS Neo: 6, Dolby Digital, ProLogic and ProLogic II) . [...] Since this setup was developed for smaller rooms in which a maximum of one or two source devices are used, the device chose to make do without a space-robbing and expensive HDMI input. And this is certainly no loss because picture signals from a Blu-ray or DVD player can be transmitted per HDMI directly to the TV.”
“The small box of wonders can therefore be seen as a complete pre-amplifier/decoder unit. But how does the system receive its amplification? The answer is simple: From the subwoofer. Every active subwoofer has an amplification unit at its disposal as well as the required power supply [...] In other words, the perfect preconditions for expanding its own unit by five additional ones, each powered with 50 watts via discretely constructed pre-amplification units [...] In addition, the US 4110/6SW bassist is naturally well-equipped with a comprehensive feature package [...]."
"For this price class, Teufel places an emphasis on high-end drivers and enclosure materials. The set therefore contains a full four [...] floor-standing columns plus centre that are identically equipped. Each has two midbass drivers with a 70 millimeter diameter as well as a 19 mm fabric dome tweeter placed in the middle responsible for the reproduction of all the treble parts that come its way.”
"That this setup was designed for the playback of dynamic film sequences was clear from the first second of the test film “King Kong.” The brutish blows from the gigantic ape in the fight against the attacking dinosaurs came across with an impressive depth in the excellently executed surround sound image that seemed to fill our entire test cinema. [...] Teufel scored an extra point as well for the very good dialogue reproduction from the centre which placed the voices of the protagonists in the room without coloration, naturally, and inconspicuously.”
"In this set, Teufel combines the desire for living room integration with sound quality to an exceptional degree. The Berliners deliver a space-saving, lavishly equipped all-in-one solution that has an impressively outstanding price/performance ratio.”
The preferred genres for use with these headphones are therefore very wide: rock, jazz, pop, metal – it’s up to you. The TURN is an extremely versatile pair of headphones and provides very high-definition sound. The ear cups are really big and they cover the ears well. But to be clear, Teufel’s TURN is a heavy enough headset: (almost) 500 grams are quite a lot, and after an hour of use, you’ll want a break. But the listening experience is the product’s most important function, and there is little to criticize about it: they feel very good, even at very high volumes, the details are not lost or distorted."

“The TURN is a powerful and aggressive all-round monster. The high level of workmanship makes the thing robust. It can be thrown into a backpack without a second thought if you’re in a rush. The sound is top [...]. Well done, Teufel.”

"The new TURN is nearly unbeatable when it comes to workmanship and bass performance. We seldom see such well made and robust headphones in our editorial department. The punchy bass that can be enhanced with a dial left us with a proper “WOW” feeling, above all with electronic beats. The high degree of wearing comfort and the premium audio cable also speak in favor of purchasing our test model [...]. In short: Gamers and those who love bass can opt for the TURN without hesitation.”

In terms of sound, the TURN is unstoppable. Every tone is a statement, every beat a manifesto. When it comes to dynamics, the Teufel seems to know no limits. The sound is a real turn on, one reaches for the volume dial reflexively – more of this stuff, up the dosage. Compared to the TURN, most hi-fi headphones appear to have no teeth. The price? The TURN is no sophisticate. It doesn’t have to be. Other criteria are what count, although – if one is able to control oneself and forgoes the enhanced bass mode and is able to keep the volume levels within reason, it’s possible to listen to cultivated music with the TURN. One can, but one doesn’t need to. With the right music and the requisite levels, the TURN is in its element.
