Overview of our technologies

PC/Multimedia

Compared to the entry model Concept E 100, the Concept E 200 is distinguished by two qualities: more performance, more bass.

Ideal combination set
This enables the set not only to produce loud and sustained sound for a PC workstation, but also for an entire living room up to 20 m². The basic concept of the speaker combinations is identical: an active subwoofer with a 5.1 amplifier supplies five compact, yet powerful satellite speakers.

Stepped-up concept
>However, we clearly stepped up the notch for the CE 200 subwoofer: 300 watt maximum performance and a 250 mm bass speaker in the enlarged casing guarantee that it's louder, and more bassy.

Plenty of input sources
The Concept E 200 was also designed to be connected directly to the sound card outputs of the computer. However, DVD player, CD portables, MP3 player, iPod docks, TV set, radio transmission systems and many other components with analogue outputs can also be used as sound sources. Even stereo signals are passed through the five speakers and the subwoofer, making the set sound much better than the normal stereo playback of ordinary computer speakers!

Easy audio fun
The three buttons on the front of the subwoofer will let you directly carry out the most commonly used functions: adjusting the volume and the bass level, and switching off the unit. Everything else is controlled by the software or hardware of the sound source, which sends stereo or 5.1 signals to the Concept E 200. The Teufel speaker set converts this into an impressive sound backdrop.

Solid subwoofer
The subwoofer generates deep basses down to 36 Hertz (-3 db), the full range satellites reproduce all music information from the mid-tone to the treble range undistorted and down to the last detail, thanks to their meticulous set-up.

Use the Concept E 200 to listen to your multimedia files at a new quality that will make you realise: wow - this is fun!

Specifications

5.1 Subwoofer CE 200 SW
5.1 Subwoofer CE 200 SW
The Concept E 200 SW marks the mid-point in the Concept E series segment. But we’re not talking about mediocrity here, but rather excellent technical properties: With a maximum of 300 watts on six channels, the Concept E 200 is numbered among the absolute top class of multimedia subwoofers – worldwide!
This opulent performance can be finely adjusted using the level controller of the three switches on the front after the connections from its rear 5.1 cinch connectors have been made to surround sound cards or other stereo sources.

The standard side-mounted bass speaker for the new Concept E models measures an imposing 250 mm, and produces the round, sonorous output of this master of bass. No wonder – the lower limit frequency is a fabulous 36 Hz (at -3 dB). Many other home cinema woofers will pale in comparison! The bass reflex calibration together with the generously dimensioned casing contributes to the successful overall impression.

The Concept E 200 SW is only available as part of a Concept E 200 set.

Satellite Speaker CE 10 FCR
Satellite Speaker CE 10 FCR
The CE 10 FCR micro satellite delivers unbelievable performance despite its compact size.
Thanks to a high-performance driver with an 80 mm diameter and a subwoofer with active filtering, it can powerfully play back the complete frequency range between mid-tone and treble without breaks or distortion. The curved front ensures better sound radiation than previous conventional constructions.

The acoustically transparent cover of the 9 x 9 centimetre sound marvel can be removed for “open” operation, but normally has a “floating” mounting: Benefits: Minimisation of edge reflections. A curved front provides improved sound radiation compared to previous constructions.

The supplied matching table stand ensures optimal placement options on a desk or shelf. An optional Shortlock bracket can be used to fasten and then horizontally/vertically swivel the cube. The separately available M 60 P base is an alternative stand placement option.

Expert reviews

Concept E 200 review of Computer Shopper
Concept E 200 review of Computer Shopper
"We were greatly impressed"
Computer Shopper 04/2010
"Teufel's Concept E 200 comes with small, mug-sized satellites but the heavy subwoofer is huge - it's similar in size to most tower PCs. Novices will appreciate the comprehensive, illustrated manual which aids set up. Each of the satellites is interchangeable as there's no dedicated centre speaker.

Unlike most PC surround sound sets, the satellites connect to the subwoofer using speaker wire instead of phono or 3.5 mm stereo cables. Speaker wire is more commonly used by home cinema surround sound kits. It's simple to connect to the spring clips on the speakers and subwoofer (...).

The subwoofer has phono audio inputs, so you'll need a phono-to-3.5 mm audio adaptor to connect most computers. The volume, bass and treble controls are located on the front of the subwoofer and are conveniently illuminated making them easier to find and adjust under a desk or in a darkened living room.

We were greatly impressed with the sound quality of the Concept E 200 when playing movies. The full, rumbling, room-shaking bass make explosions and other dramatic audio effects sound deep and vibrant. Less dramatic sound effects and conversations sound well-balanced so that fine, subtle details and intonations that lesser speakers fail to reproduce clearly are readily apparent here. The surround sound effect is very convincing in most films with fireworks and other projectiles whizzing past our ears in time with the on-screen action, while orchestras sounded like they were almost there in the room with us.

Music also sounded equally pleasing. All genres benefited from the Concept E 200's clear, warm, rich and detailed sound. Vocals and instruments were well-balanced with no distortion or harshness (...)."

Verdict:
"If you have the budget and the room these speakers are a great buy: 4/5."

"If you're in the market for a capable 5.1 speaker system, then the Concept E 200 warrants consideration."
PC Utilities 06/2009

"Teufel is a new company to the UK, but it's certainly looking to make a name for itself with products like the Concept E-200. This 5.1 speaker system really looks the business. All the speakers sport a tough matt black plastic finish, with a more eye-catching glossy black finish on the front of the central unit. The 200W subwoofer and amplifier is a large and heavy beast, though the five 100W satellite speakers are pleasantly compact and discreet.

The latter can be wall-mounted too, to help minimise on desktop clutter. The front of the subwoofer sports three controls, enabling you to tweak the overall volume, the bass and put the speakers into standby mode (a standard power switch is located on the rear.)

With a maximum output of 300W across six channels, the E-200 isn't lacking in raw power. The subwoofer puts a weighty thump behind games, intense movies and music, while the satellite speakers pack ini more punch than you'd expect given their size."

"Overall sound quality was very crisp, and certainly left us nothing to complain about. If you're in the market for a capable 5.1 speaker system, then the Concept E-200 warrants consideration."

Help regarding this product
Can I order the Teufel speakers in different colours than those offered?
To realise the very reasonable sales prices usual for Teufel, it is not possible to offer the speakers in a multitude of housing designs.

This circumstance would drive up the production and storage costs, which would result in a significantly more expensive sales price.

A paint shop in your vicinity will surely be able to repaint the speaker housing to your preferred colour without loss of warranty - after expiry of the eight-week right of return.
When can I use the rear speakers as direct speakers?
If you aren't able to position the speakers close to the wall as described above, you should use the them as direct speakers. For this purpose the rear switch should be tipped outwards. For use as direct speakers, the rear boxes should be set up to the left and right of the listening position - ideally at the same height, e.g. on a shelf or preferably on a base. If the speakers have to be set up so that they are much higher or lower, it may be advisable to align them to the listening point. For wall mounting it is best to use wall brackets that allow for vertical movement. When using the speakers in direct speaker mode, we recommend that the distance between the two rear speakers exceeds the listening position by 1m. But if you (have to) sit closer, please make sure that the front of the speaker is not pointing directly at you; instead, angle the speakers more into the room.
My Concept E is often in the Standby/Energy Saver mode, although the system is still being supplied with audio data. Why is that?
The standby function of the Concept E series is active, as the subwoofer no longer performs the audio data if the source device (such as a PC, DVD player or Decoder dock) provides low output levels. Because of this, the system turns off automatically after some time even though – in this case – the signal is there, but quiet.

We recommend you increase the volume of the source device connected to the Concept E and, at the same time, reduce the volume of the Concept E. After this, the system should work perfectly.
The subwoofer goes into standby mode too quickly.
Check to see if the speaker/bass management settings for the supply device (DVD player, sound card) display the preset level at a higher value, of about +4 dB up to the maximum.

The higher the level, the sooner the subwoofer restarts.
Which volume/bass settings for the subwoofer are recommended for operating your 5.1 set when it is hooked up to a decoder station?
The volume should be controlled at the decoder station and set to the maximum on the subwoofer.
Bass should be set to 1/4 (at the "9:00 position" on the dial).
Are these sets able to be hooked up to an AV Receiver?
Operating it using an AV Receiver is essentially not a problem, but may mean a loss in sound quality, since the satellite loudspeakers are calibrated to the amplifier built into the subwoofer.

If you want to hook up multiple source devices to your Teufel set, we recommend that you purchase a Decoderstation 5.
I am getting interfering radio signals!
The interference of unwanted radio frequencies may occur and is caused by local conditions. If this happens, unplug all RCA cables from the product and test to see if the radio signals stop.

If the interference continues, try using a shorter high-end shielded and insulated RCA connector cable.
The satellites 'crackle'!
Please disconnect the Teufel speaker system from your PC or other connected devices by unplugging the cable and check whether the “crackling” stops. Try operating the set with a different power source/in a different room (just use an extension cable).

If you can still hear the crackling, please check which satellites are affected by swapping them around and to find out whether the satellite or the subwoofer electronics are generating the excessive crackling. If the "fault" moves with the satellites, the satellite is affected. The subwoofer amplifier electronics may be responsible if you can still hear the crackling.
The satellites "hiss"
In principle the Concept F is a very low-noise system. In the high range area, very high-resolution quality speaker systems can 'expose' the defective quality of a signal source (e.g. from MP3 files or analogue cassette recordings) that is hardly noticeable on lower quality speakers.
You can check the basic noise level by connecting a signal, via a cinch cable, from an external source that is guaranteed to be good quality – such as a music CD e.g. on a portable CD player – to the Aux L/R input on the subwoofer. If all of the satellites are now playing noise-free, it is because they weren't receiving the right signal before. Either the cinch cable is defective (try swapping them around) or the output of your source appliance is not producing an adequate signal.

However, if you continue to hear increased noise on this channel there is possibly a fault in the Concept F. Please check which satellites are affected by changing the satellites around and to find out whether the satellite or the subwoofer electronics are producing excessive noise. If the fault "moves" with the satellite the satellite is the problem. On the other hand, if the hissing remains on the same channel, the subwoofer amplifier electronics are the cause.
