Overview of our technologies
The Concept E 400 Digital is nothing less than the mightiest multimedia complete set we know of: and that with all the typical benefits of the „All in One“ package. Everything’s there, everything fits: speakers, amplifier, controller, decoder, cables…because everything comes together at Teufel.
Fit for everything
This set gives you a fantastic sound from many different sources. Whether Playstation, Xbox, Wii, TV, Computer, MP3 player, DJ Mixer, CD Player, DVD player, Satellite receiver, it doesn’t matter – you can connect to all of it. And it’ll all sound good…
External connector for all devices
The Decoderstation 5 with its four digital inputs, three stereo analogue inputs plus a 5.1 input for the soundcard works as a central connector of the set. Use it directly on the device (there’s a 32 character display!) or via the remote control.
The integrated decoder allows an original 5.1 playback and values thanks to the Dolby Prologic stereo signals. You’ll enjoy an amazing surround sound that the five satellites and subwoofer ensure is a harmonious whole.
The five compact satellites and imposing subwoofer in the Concept E 400 are singularly responsible for the fantastic sound of this set. The satellites are delivered with table feet, so you’re able to stand them alone in the room or place them on the walls as you wish.
500 Watt maximal performance
The subwoofer-integrated 5.1 amplifier distributes this gigantic performance over two different fields at the same time. The first field is that 300 mm woofer in the slim bass reflex housing which delivers a full bodied, hefty bass up to 32 Hz. The second field are the fantastic five two-way satellites that, from only a 9 x 12,5 cm large housing with 80 mm midrange drivers and a 19 mm tweeter, produce extremely accurate, multifaceted and dynamic sound. For rooms of up to 30 m² the satellites and woofer handle the room admirably…with the addition of the included cable set AC 3015 WS you’re guaranteed powerful and strong performance through the room.
The Concept E 400 Digital takes the top position for the Teufel multimedia complete solution for all walks of life. For the home cinema, overkill at the office or as a universal multimedia station – you’ll have the set to impress both yourself and others with – the one that’ll give you real fun to play.
This clever high-tech tool transforms an active 5.1 speaker ensemble into a complete multimedia centre. Thanks to the Decoderstation 5, a purely PC-based set is converted to a universal system to use anywhere.
Connect 8 devices
Up to eight external devices can be used with the Decoderstation 5 via a Teufel multichannel speaker set – without shifting the plugs around – simply by pressing a button on the decoder itself or using the infrared remote control.
Full surround quality
The integrated Dolby/dts decoders of the Decoderstation 5 enable an original 5.1 playback in full surround quality. A 32-character display keeps you informed about current function status; the supplied remote control permits you to conveniently control all functions from your listening location.

The 5.1 amplifier distributes the 500 watts maximum performance to six channels. And 225 watts of those are allocated just for the bass in the 63 litre reflex casing. This makes sense, because an imposing 300 mm chassis lays waiting for an ample power supply to allow it to mercilessly play out its advantages: 32 Hz lower limit frequency, 500 watts maximum level – while remaining clean, precise and free from noise.
Three illuminated regulators on the front enable direct control of the total volume, bass proportion and the On/Standby operating mode. The power consumption in the standby mode here remains less than 1 watts.
The Concept E 400 SW is only available as part of a Concept E 400 set.

Despite being small in size, the micro speaker plays back all medium and high frequencies comprehensively, clearly and powerfully. The 9 x 12.5 cm casing behind a removable, floating mounted grid has a full-grown two-way system with 80 mm mid-tone speaker and 19 mm tweeter; an extremely finely tuned frequency switch ensures the harmonic interplay of these components. The curved front provides better sound radiation than conventional constructions.
An exceptionally linear frequency response is achieved in conjunction with the active filtering of the subwoofer’s multi-channel amplifier, marking new standards in the field of multimedia speakers.
The CE 20 FCR includes a matching table stand, but it can also be attached to the wall and swivelled horizontally/vertically using the optional Shortlock wall bracket. Attaching the speaker to the separately available M 50 P stand allows it to be placed freely in the room.

"If you're looking for great surround sound for your games and movies, but haven't got a huge wad of cash burning a hole in your pocket, Teufel has you covered. The Concept E 400s are the latest addition to the Teufel multimedia range.
The speakers produce big sound, far bigger in fact than I would have expected from this all in one system. The key to that big sound is the truly massive subwoofer that's the cornerstone of the whole setup. I've seen bigger subwoofers, but not as a part of a multimedia system like this, and certainly not at this price point. Of course it's not just a subwoofer, since that big black box also houses the amplification for all the satellites as well as for the sub itself.
If you want numbers, the CE 400 subwoofer has a 500W amplifier hiding inside, but 250W of that power is dedicated to driving the sub, leaving 50W per channel for each of the satellite speakers. That's a pretty generous spread of power, and the decision to funnel half of it to the low frequency channel pays real benefits when you're watching an explosive action scene, or playing through a particularly hairy fire-fight in, say, Halo "3" or "Gears of War 2".
As is usually the case with Teufel speakers, they look good as well as sounding good. The subwoofer is finished in glossy black, which will no doubt complement the majority of high definition TVs that it's likely to share a room with. There are, what looks like, three dials on the front of the sub, although the centre one is actually just a button that toggles between standby and on. The right dial is the master volume for the whole set, while the left dial controls the amount of bass, which can be set from a mild atmospheric rumble to window shaking earthquake levels!"
"If you've already got a high definition TV, a games console, a PC and a Blu-ray player, you're probably already thinking about a surround sound system to get the most out of your kit. And if you're in that position, the Concept E 400 and Decoderstation 5 will make the perfect addition."
"Ultimately, if you're looking for an active surround sound speaker set, the Concept E 400s should be high on your list."

That the Teufel system – even at this price – is a considerable acoustic piece is where it hits most of the competition right in the teeth. This set connects without problem to your PC and is equally as good in films and gaming. And furthermore, improved music playback is also there:
Bottom line is that this remains a powerful tool that can claim its proper place in this price class. It sounds excellent, and with the subwoofer possibly too good for the competition – Kudos!
The compact CD 20 FCR satellite represents the current highpoint in the development of powerful multimedia speakers at Teufel.
The high performance of the Concept E 400 SW may redefine the field of multimedia subwoofers. Because there's no more to more. The 5.1 amplifier distributes the 500 watts maximum performance to six channels. And 225 watts of those are allocated just for the bass in the 63 litre reflex casin.
This makes sense, because an imposing 300 mm chassis lays waiting for an ample power supply to allow it to mercilessly play out its advantages: 32 Hz lower limit frequency, 500 watts maximum level - while remaining clean, precise and free from noise.
"The Teufel Decoderstation 5 is a real multitalent, which now can be connected to many different sound devices, such as their DVD player, iPod or their PC. With the remote control, your film evening on the couch will be super easy and the preferences are easy to take care of with the Teufel system, regardless the situation. The worksmanship and material is excellent, which doesn't surprise us coming from Teufel."

Sound Dolby Pro Logic II: CD "Dream Dance Vol. 50, CD 1": what a step ahead – acoustically this combination of the Decoderstation 5 and Concept E 300 in comparison to the older Decoderstation 3 and the Concept E Magnum Digital are hardly in the same ball park. The January, 2008 tested products were still cheaper, but the in-total 448 euro for the brand-new Teufel combination is an excellent investment. With Paffendorfs "Self Control" the attractive subwoofer really impresses. All power amplifiers are located in its housing, which gives pleasure during performance and a surprising depth. With increased volumes the Concept E 400 remains sovereign and provides a precise, room-filling sound with excellent differences between vocal and instrumental elements. The subwoofer not only delivers tremendous sound pressure – as shows with "I kissed a Girl" or "Real Booty Babes" – but is quick on the uptake and immediately implements bass impulses. In each individual you get amazing results in an astoundingly constructive way. The bass is hefty and quick, the highs and midranges are homogeneous and played forward without-error.
Well thought-out, optically gorgeous, strong sound – this price-conscious combination of the Concept E 300 and the Decoderstation 5 is for beginners or old hands that need an inexpensive second solution…for example, playing PC multimedia files…a perfect choice. Volume level strength is excellent for such a system. The connection possibilities fort he Decoderstation 5 are also something to praise as well as its balanced and clean worksmanship. This is our summary: you'll hardly find more sound, quality and equipment for 450 euro anywhere else around.
• Astoundingly dynamic sound
• Excellently harmonic sound picture
• For the performance area excellent volume control
• Subwoofer with nimble speed and a good volume
• Decoderstation 5 with impeccable ports
• Good finish to all components

This circumstance would drive up the production and storage costs, which would result in a significantly more expensive sales price.
A paint shop in your vicinity will surely be able to repaint the speaker housing to your preferred colour without loss of warranty - after expiry of the eight-week right of return.
The higher the level, the sooner the subwoofer restarts.
Bass should be set to 1/4 (at the "9:00 position" on the dial).
If you want to hook up multiple source devices to your Teufel set, we recommend that you purchase a Decoderstation 5.
If the interference continues, try using a shorter high-end shielded and insulated RCA connector cable.
If you can still hear the crackling, please check which satellites are affected by swapping them around and to find out whether the satellite or the subwoofer electronics are generating the excessive crackling. If the "fault" moves with the satellites, the satellite is affected. The subwoofer amplifier electronics may be responsible if you can still hear the crackling.
You can check the basic noise level by connecting a signal, via a cinch cable, from an external source that is guaranteed to be good quality – such as a music CD e.g. on a portable CD player – to the Aux L/R input on the subwoofer. If all of the satellites are now playing noise-free, it is because they weren't receiving the right signal before. Either the cinch cable is defective (try swapping them around) or the output of your source appliance is not producing an adequate signal.
However, if you continue to hear increased noise on this channel there is possibly a fault in the Concept F. Please check which satellites are affected by changing the satellites around and to find out whether the satellite or the subwoofer electronics are producing excessive noise. If the fault "moves" with the satellite the satellite is the problem. On the other hand, if the hissing remains on the same channel, the subwoofer amplifier electronics are the cause.
1. Remove the RCA cable from the input on the subwoofer. If the hum is no longer heard, go to point B. Otherwise, follow point A.
A. Attach the net cable of the subwoofer to another electricity outlet (i.e. Kitchen/Bathroom/Bedroom). If the subwoofer still hums, get in contact with our Support team.
Should the hum no longer be there, the disruption was a problem in your power supply, which can, for instance, be caused by dimmers or chargers. To find out where the disruption is, unplug all your devices and work back from there. As soon as the hum is heard, you now know your source of the disruption.
B. In your case, the "ground hum" is responsible for the disruption. Please proceed as follows to discover your source.
- Disconnect the cable or satellite port from the TV Receiver and check if the hum disappears or not. If it does, you can use a sheath current filter for the cable outlet to prevent this. For example, the sheath current filter AC 9022 ED. If you have a satellite connection, connect the Satellite Receiver to the optical cable playback source - Teufel Optical Digital Cable
- If this reason can be excluded, separate all devices from the AV Receiver one at a time until the hum stops. The last connected device is then your hum source and should be separated from the others using a galvanic separation filter (found in a retail shop)
- If this doesn't work, get in contact with us once again so that we can give an individual, helpful response.
We recommend you increase the volume of the source device connected to the Concept E and, at the same time, reduce the volume of the Concept E. After this, the system should work perfectly.
They can otherwise be mounted to the M 50 P speaker stands, which are available for purchase as an accessory.
