Both of the 2-way satellites in elegant aluminium frames which work according to a coaxial principle whereby the midrange driver is placed behind the tweeter are responsible – in spite of their tiny size – for producing a clear and detailed stereo panorama. Things really get heavy when the subwoofer with its 250 mm woofer kicks in. Whoever wishes to do so, can use the remote, by means of which the bass can also be regulated, to make the room shake.
Great: Since Teufel only offers its products via direct order over the internet, you can test the system for up to eight weeks.
Conclusion: Those who don’t require surround sound at their PC or game console or who simply don’t have the necessary space for it, get an outstanding complete 2.1 system with an impressive sound with the Motive 2 Mk2.

“The Motiv 2 Mk2 is a 2.2 system, but, unlike its predecessor, it’s equipped with 6 channel amplifier. This means that each driver in the system can be actively driven. Two channels are responsible for powering the satellites, each with a 100 mm midrange/bass driver and 25 mm tweeter actively filtered by a digital signal processer. [...] The biggest advantage of the midrange driver [...] is the satellites‘ coaxial construction comprised of a tweeter sitting at the centre of the midrange driver. Coaxial systems approach an ideal point source and minimize phase problem between the drivers. “
“In our listening room, the Teufel set [...] didn’t let anything run it down and triumphed [...] with its dynamic playing range. The small system produces wonderfully balanced music and isn’t constrained to one particular genre. Once the correct levels are set, the system’s fine tuning is impressive: The Motiv 2 Mk2 is especially well adapted to highlight musical nuances without overdoing the analytics.”
“The fully active 2.1 set puts its best foot forward in the lab. The subwoofer is really in its element at 35 Hz [...]. The small satellites [...] make a convincing show with their balanced frequency response. Even when heard outside of a 30 degree angle, the levels - supported by the impressive dispersion – barely drop off.”
“The Motiv 2 Mk2 from Teuel is an absolute highlight in the Berliner’s collection. It has a very restrained look, but when the first tones sound forth from the system, there’s no holding back. Its owner will be utterly spoiled by the direct, honest, and very dynamic sound that makes listening to music and films a joy and transforms PC games into a real experience.”
"The MT 20/3 [...] Subwoofer has a 250 mm bass driver with a membrane made from coated cellulose. The bass reflex woofer is situated in a solid MDF enclosure, the bass reflex vent is located on the underside of the subwoofer. The ample 22 litre enclosure volume would be enough to compliment a large multi-channel system."
"The MO 2 F Mk2 satellites have can a continuous power capacity of 50 and a peak capacity of 80 watts. Teufel lists the sensitivity (2.83 V/1m) as 87 dB. A maximum sound pressure of 102 dB/1m can be achieved. The frequency range is from 130 to 22 Hz. The aluminium tweeters measure 25 mm, the midrange drivers 84 mm and have polypropylene membranes. The frequency response is completely linear thanks to waveguide technology.
The satellite enclosures are made from white matte lacquered synthetic with aluminium elements. Two practical and high-quality stands are included with delivery enabling optimal alignment towards the listening position."
"The look and feel of the satellites has a solid quality. [...] Teufel did a good job integrating the coaxial drivers, even from an aesthetic perspective – high tech you can see."
"Acoustically, the Motiv 2 Mk2 really hits the mark. It easily achieves levels that many introductory stereo or surround receiver sets can’t reach and offers a consistently natural, pleasant, lively, and extremely powerful sound. One shouldn’t turn the bass up too high, because it has an enormous performance capacity. The Goldfrapp title ‘Rocket’ remixed by Tiesto evinced a scorching bass reproduction that impressed with its volume, power, depth. The advantages of the subwoofer’s extensive measurements are evident here.
But even the satellites are impressive. The coaxial drivers give them an enormous impulse fidelity. In addition, they lack typical close-range monitor characteristics. On the contrary, they can be used in a living room without a problem. This gives the Motiv 2 Mk2 great flexibility in terms of possible acoustic uses."
"Unfortunately, Teufel did not incorporate a USB soundcard function into the Motiv 2 MK2. Bluetooth that would allow for the wireless communication with a PC or notebook is also missing. Otherwise, the 2.1 system from the Berlin sound experts shines without fail. The maximum is offered acoustically, but also in terms of the construction and aesthetic for € 400. The Motiv 2 Mk2 has a refined appearance and is acoustical capable of just about anything: Power on demand, dimensionality, and high levels along with a cultivated and detailed performance. These are qualities that one isn’t accustomed to in a 2.1 set in this price class. The Motiv 2 Mk2 offers a generally first class value for the money invested.
What you get with Teufel: Phenomenal sound at a low price with an elegant look and excellent workmanship.”

The active subwoofer conceals a substantial 25 cm bass driver in its robust wooden enclosure supported by a bass reflex vent on the bottom for a substantial amount of power in the lower frequencies. The subwoofer additionally serves as a central command centre and powerhouse in one. Unlike the rest of its class, the class D amplifier not only supplies itself with efficient and flawless power, but the two coaxially constructed satellites as well. In these, the tweeter is positioned directly in front of the midrange driver allowing for a compact form as well as a closer approximation of an ideal point source. The aluminium wave guide in front of the tweeter not only looks good, it also prevents the formation of unlovely and sound-distorting reflections.
As a special feature, Teufel Audio granted the design five amplification stages that guide individual areas via bi-amping technology. In this way, the tweeter and midrange drivers from either satellite have a total of 4 amplification channels at their disposal. According to the manufacturer, these distribute a maximal power capacity of 100 watts to both satellites. The subwoofer has a redoubtable 120 watts to itself. After all, it needs to achieve the 38 Hertz promised by Teufel. A digital DSP located inside the subwoofer takes care of filtering the signals.
When it comes to connectivity, no limits are set to one’s imagination. From PC/Mac to smartphone, TV/MP3/DVD/Blu-ray players to Playstations, etc. - can all be accommodated. The Motiv 2 Mk2 is especially compelling when used with anaemic-sounding flatscreen TVs, but the sound will make even hardcore gamers sit up and take notice.
Various connections are located on the back of the subwoofer for the satellites as well as a total of 4 connection possibilities for analogue or digital (optical / coaxial) players. There is even a headphone input and a USB port for smartphones. A switch allows the subwoofer to be accommodated in positions either directly against or away from walls."
"With the first few beats from the piece‚ ‘The Krockadile’ from the young London artist King Krule’s album ‘6 Feet Beneath the Moon,’ the set makes it clear that we’re dealing with a wolf in sheep’s clothing. With great authority in the lower frequencies, the subwoofer proves that realistic playback and a precise bass can summon the human apparatus of locomotion to action. The funky strumming from King Krule’s Telecaster comes forth bodily and in fine resolution from the satellites. King Krule’s distinctive and sonorous voice appears in a near life-size scale in the room with a vivid, completely natural and clear delineation. The transparency in the pieces is especially impressive. Fine nuances seem tangible instead of being subsumed in an amorphous mass as with many cheap sound solutions. The relaxed unravelling of the pulsating bass in the background is equally notable."
"The Motiv 2 Mk2 set from Teufel Audio has an impressively fresh and astonishing dynamic with a strikingly robust, clear, and relaxed tone. In close proximity, it sounds agile and present at the same time. Capable of filling even larger rooms in the style of a classic, free standing 2.1 system.
Markedly neutral without imprinting the source material with its own sound, the set maintains a very differentiated and clearly transparent performance even at low volumes. The Motiv 2 Mk2 doesn’t lose the plot at high volumes, either, remaining in control and free from distortion.
An additional plus point along with a variety of connection possibilities is flexibility. The set could be used without hesitation for a garden or garage party. It can also be employed with superior equanimity to drive back the sound blast from local folk music festivals with a rousing offering of Panteras’ ‘Strength Beyond Strength’ (from ‘Far Beyond Driven’) for once and all time."

The Motiv 2 can be used universally. You can connect any of the above-mentioned appliances directly using one of three stereo analogue inputs and play them through the subwoofer and both satellites.
For Theater 2 and larger systems, we recommend the Teufel cable with 4 mm² cross-section for the front/centre speakers, and the 2.5 mm² cable up to a length of 15 metres for the effect speakers.
Choose a higher cross-section for even greater lengths.
Fully active set do not necessarily need an AV Receiver. The five to seven satellite speakers here are supplied with power by the amplifiers which are installed in the subwoofer in addition to the subwoofer power amplifier. This saves you the costs of a receiver, but it is usually only possible to connect one source to our fully active subwoofer.
Exceptions here are the Concept E2, the Concept E Magnum Digital, the Motiv 5 Digital, the Concept F, the LT2+R and the Concept S+R.
Naturally you can also equip the fully active systems with an AV Receiver at a later point. The connection is then equal to the partially active sets.
Modern AV Receivers offer numerous options for compensating electronically for any compromises in the set up. Generally speaking, the following rule always applies: you can always use our recommendations as a basis for experimenting with what works best for you, acoustically and optically. Let your ears (and eyes) decide!
This circumstance would drive up the production and storage costs, which would result in a significantly more expensive sales price.
A paint shop in your vicinity will surely be able to repaint the speaker housing to your preferred colour without loss of warranty - after expiry of the eight-week right of return.
Bi-wiring states that the corresponding speaker can be controlled at the same time with two different speaker cables, meaning via separated input sockets for the treble and mid-tone range on one hand, and for the bass range of the frequency switch on the other. This could improve the sound even more. Bi-wiring is the prerequisite for bi-amping.
