Fill your room with sound, not audio equipment
The space constraints of many modern homes require innovative sound solutions. Many people want to fill their room with sound but don’t want all the gear that goes with a traditional stereo system. For this reason, we developed the Ultima 40 Active, two beautiful tower speakers with integrated amplification. Germany’s most-purchased stereo speakers now come in a fully active version.
When it comes to sound, the Ultima 40 Active uses all the same high-quality audio components as its passive counterpart. The only difference between the original Ultima 40 and its active counterpart is where the system draws its power. With the Ultima 40 Active, power comes from within.
Power towers
In an Ultima 40 Active stereo pair, all required amplification is tucked away inside the active speaker. An integrated class D amplifier delivers 100 watts per channel – more than enough power for room-filling sound.
Includes everything you’d expect from a complete stereo system
The Ultima 40 Active’s connection panel offers space for additional source devices like game consoles or CD, record and MP3 players via TOSLINK or stereo cinch input. An equalizer allows you to adjust the sound to your personal preferences.
Music streaming with Bluetooth – check!
The Ultima 40 Active is even equipped for Bluetooth streaming. Play back all the music from your favourite audio apps or the files stored on your phone from the comfort of your sofa. Unlike some Bluetooth speakers that are only built for convenience, the Ultima 40 Active reproduces everything in the best possible sound quality.
Intelligent LED display
The front of the speaker features LEDs that vary according to colour or pulse rhythm. This allows the user to tell at a glance which source is connected and what status the system currently has.

Double bass
Low frequencies are handled by two parallel 165 mm fibreglass/cellulose drivers. Thanks to a cabinet volume of 52 litres and double reflex vent, the Ultima 40 Mk2 produces fantastic bass down to 45 Hz. A large mid-range driver (165 mm) ensures great speech intelligibility, and the two 25 mm tweeters handle the top ranges brilliantly.
Developed in Berlin
When it comes to sound, Teufel leaves nothing to chance. The tiniest imperfections in the Ultima 40's driver action were identified per laser technology and corrected. The result is amazing true-to-source sound with all genres of music.
High-quality materials
Solid wooden cabinets with softly rounded corners contain advanced audio technology, the product of Teufel's over 30 years' experience in loudspeaker construction. Rock, jazz or electronic: Whatever you play on these speakers is rendered with incredible transparency and livliness.
Display the Ultima 40 Mk2 with or without grilles. The attractive drivers are one of the stereo towers' main highlights.
3-way system
Over one meter tall, each tower features a 3-way speaker system. Above two 165 mm bass woofers is a 165 mm Kevlar/fiberglass midrange driver in a separate resonating chamber. This premium driver covers the range from 650 Hz to 26000 Hz. A phase plug enhances the system's thermal load capacity and prevents phase shifts from muting any of the playback. A 25 mm tweeter completes the offering with a brilliant but never-shrill treble.

"De keuze voor een set speakers is lastig. Er is zoveel op de markt en iedere fabrikant komt wel met zijn eigen idee van wat jij nodig hebt. Zo ook Teufel. Het Duitse merk doet het alleen net even een tikkeltje anders. Door te kiezen voor een bewezen bestseller uit de collectie, en hier extra mogelijkheden aan toe te voegen komt het merk met een schitterend set speakers op de merkt. Draadloos muziek streamen en een actieve versterker maken. Direct klaar voor gebruik en volledig connected. (...)
Eenvoudig streamen via Bluetooth
Het streamen van muziek is denk ik een van de meest handige functies van de Ultima 40 Active. Ineens is het set van een heel ander kaliber en kun je vanaf je smartphone al je favoriete muziek streamen zonder poespas. Het enige dat je op je smartphone of tablet hoeft te doen is hem via Bluetooth te koppelen met het set en klaar ben je. Doordat je toestel het set als een audioafspeelapparaat ziet werkt het nagenoeg in iedere app. Ik heb het zelf getest met DS Audio van Synology, TuneIN, YouTube en diverse andere apps. In alle gevallen werkte het feilloos. (...)
Doe mij maar zonder beschermkap
Tja, en dan heb je de speakers zelf nog. Hier heeft Teufel weinig aan gedaan ten opzichte van het oorspronkelijke set. Helemaal geen probleem als je het mij vraagt want de speakers zien er schitterend uit en klinken geweldig. Wat ik zelf altijd prettig vind aan dit soort vloerstaande speakers is het volle geluid. Lekker veel diepte in de lage tonen en bij dit set is dat niet anders. Twee glasvezel bass drivers zorgen voor een flinke portie lage tonen en als je echt je servies wilt laten trillen is er nog de mogelijkheid tot het aansluiten van een extra subwoofer. Ik heb tijdens het luisteren niet gemerkt dat ik een extra subwoofer mis eigenlijk. Hij vult de woonkamer goed en is niet overheersend in een bepaald bereik. Je betaalt geen duizenden euro’s voor dit set en verwacht misschien niet heel veel voor zo’n scherpe prijs. Toch vergis je je hierin flink. Sterker nog, ik zou het set zelfs graag in huis hebben. Echt de moeite waard door een onwijs goede prijs-kwaliteit verhouding. Voordeeltje van Teufel: Bevalt het set niet dan mag je het binnen 8 weken retour sturen en krijg je je geld terug."

Ein sympathischer Ansatz, der im Wettbewerbsumfeld mit einem hervorragend guten Preis--Gegenwert-Verhältnis serviert wird.

Ob für Filmton oder HiFi-Stereo: Dieser Aktivlautsprecher bietet eine Menge an Ausstattung, Leistung und Klangqualität fürs Geld. Wer nicht gerade auf Plattenspieler oder absolute Highresolution-Feinheiten schwört, kann mit diesem Lautsprecher eine Menge Geld sparen. Vor allem im Partykeller reicht so eine Kombi Smartphone–Teufel Ultima 40 Aktiv völlig aus. Doch die Ohren schmerzen auch nicht, wenn anspruchsvollere Musik ausser Druck und Lautstärke auch Differenzierung und Dynamik verlangt. Und Smart-TV-Besitzer mit bisher nur flachbrüstigem Quäkton aus dem Flachmann sollten sich mal die Anschaffung einer Ultima 40 Aktiv überlegen. Teufeltypisch liegt die grösste Versuchung in dem ausgezeichneten Preis-Leistungs-Verhältnis.

We wanted a harder sound and put on some classic rock. The speaker really flexed its muscles with “Visibility Zero” from the current Kansas album. The good ol’ Hammond organ skilfully asserted itself in the intro and the vocal harmonies in the chorus were goose bump inducing. Can the system handle more? How about some Panzerballett! Turned up all the way, the jazz metal group ploughed through the room with a good amount of power and depth. The powerful class D amplifier showed itself to be fearless and really went to work. Great stuff.”

In „Mad Max: Fury Road“ [...] ziehen sie den Dynamik-Turbo, genau wie die Fahrzeuge mit aktiviertem Nitro-Boost. Dabei klingen Bässe tief und eindrucksvoll, sodass sich die Frage nach einem zusätzlichen Subwoofer fast schon erübrigt.
Die flammenden Gitarrenklänge werden ebenso plastisch und imposant dargestellt wie die schweren Trommelsalven – dabei fällt auf: Bässe und Höhen sind etwas ins rechte Licht gerückt, spielen aber nicht übertrieben lautstark auf. Sprecherstimmen und Dialoge sind stets klar verständlich.

My subwoofer is humming. What can I do?

Will an active subwoofer only run in 5.1 mode or also in stereo mode?
Thanks to the speaker set-up/bass management integrated in the home cinema receivers/amplifiers, the subwoofer functions in stereo, Dolby Surround and digital mode.

Some AV Receivers/amplifiers issue the bass signals via the subwoofer pre-amplifier output so quietly that the subwoofer does not start automatically.

How do I connect my fully active Teufel system to an AV Receiver?
Although designed to be fully active, the Teufel set is also partially active in conjunction with an AV Receiver.
