Together with your router, the Raumfeld Expand creates the perfect WiFi streaming environment

After an easy installation process, the Expand automatically connects directly to your WiFi router and communicates the signal without drops or interruptions to each Raumfeld device in your network. The little organizational wonder can also host media storage devices via its USB port, making it possible to stream titles from your digital library. The system's memory can index up to 200,000 titles for anytime access via the Raumfeld Controller App.

Home WiFi signals can be brought to the breaking point by many competing devices, the transmission of larger files or thick walls. The result is often dropped signals and interruptions – irritating hindrances to the enjoyment of your music. The Raumfeld Expand puts your music streams back in the fast lane by creating an autonomous WiFi signal exclusively for your Raumfeld system.

Lossless audio tracks can place a large burden on home WiFi systems which often host a range of other devices from smartphones and tablets to game consoles. To facilitate the best multi-room experience with top quality digital music files, the Raumfeld Expand create a dedicated WiFi network for your music. The system can manage an incredible 200,000 tracks for instant access to your favourites, playlists and other personal settings across a huge range of music via the Raumfeld App.

Autonomous, not exclusive

In addition, the Expand is equipped with a USB port to which even large external hard drives can be directly attached. NAS and DLNA/UPnP media servers containing compatible music files can also be accessed by the system.

Audio streaming without frontiers

Lossless audio presents a challenge to audio streaming because of the large volumes of data involved. In order to cope with bigger quantities of data within a limited broadband, many manufacturers of streaming products compromise the signal. In other words, the lossless files that you select from a service like TIDAL or your private music library is not what is played back. Raumfeld, however, respects the integrity of all music files and does not compress them for easier streaming. The Expand creates the wireless infrastructure needed for streaming the best quality audio without compromise.

Equipped with two adjustable antennas for incredibly reliable and fast transmission, the Expand is perfect for situations where a weak router, thick walls or the use of many streaming devices at once hinders the smooth streaming of larger files. The external placement of the antennas extends the range of the wireless network for music enjoyment without drops or disruptions from multiple Raumfeld players in any room in your home.

State-of-the-art streaming, down-to-earth setup

Integrating the Expand into your Raumfeld system requires absolutely no prior technical knowledge. Simply connect the device to your WiFi router via the included Ethernet cable and let the system do the rest. The Expand automatically recognizes all Raumfeld players already connected to your router. Additional Raumfeld players can be added to the network with the simple press of a button. A single, discreet LED light keeps the user updated as to the device’s status.

Thanks to its compact dimensions and integrated wall mounts, the Expand is easy to integrate into your home.

A small, modular powerhouse

A little speaker that makes a very big impression. A power connection and Wi-Fi access are enough for this little guy to fill even medium size rooms with rich, high-definition sound. A free app allows you to access music from your own private collection as well as streaming services and Internet radio. Alternately, 4 preset buttons allow you to get your favourite streams of music started right away. A volume regulator and on/off switch are also included for directly controlling the system.

The little One S works with a wide range of streaming services as well as your own music collection stored on USB or DLNA enabled devices. You can also send music stored on your smartphone or tablet directly, wirelessly, and losslessly to the One S.

The little One S is jam-packed with high-end acoustic and streaming hardware including:
  • A 2-way coaxial system consisting of a 100 mm midbass driver with forward placed 20 mm tweeter. Not only does this arrangement allow more drivers to be placed in a smaller space, it approximates a point source for an acoustically superior result. The same system used in our Stereo Cubes has garnered the system wide-spread praise for its powerful, clear and detailed sound.
  • A long throw 100 mm midrange driver allows the One S to produce amazingly deep, rich and responsive bass.
  • Side-mounted 80 mm passive radiators give the system an incredible 45 Hz low end.
  • A digital signal processor using a sophisticated equalizer to eliminate any resonances or gaps in the bass range for a nearly perfectly linear frequency response and true-to-source playback. Equalizer presets adjust the sound for the kitchen, bathroom and living room for an optimal sound.

Thanks to a low noise 50 watt class D amplifier, the One S produces incredibly high, distortion-free levels in even larger rooms.

If the One S is combined with other Raumfeld devices, the entire multi-room system can be centrally controlled with the Raumfeld App as well.

Built to last

An aluminium cover adorns the front of the One S. The control buttons are made from pleasantly soft silicone that are perfect for use in a messy environment like the kitchen as it's easy to wipe off a bit of Nutella or jam. Robust fabric covers protect the drivers and rubber rings on the bottom guarantee secure placement.

The One S can be easily wall mounted

Integrated keyhole brackets make it easy to mount the system on a wall. Flexible wall mounts are also available as additional accessories.

Setting up the system is easy and no other devices are needed to make i t work other than a Wi-Fi router and smartphone/tablet.

"It produces a very serious sound for such a small enclosure."
On-Mag 20.03.2017
"The two integrated Class D amps succeed in giving an unexpected density to the sound of the Raumfeld One S. This also has to do with the quality of the speakers. The Raumfeld One S is equipped with a coaxial transducer on its front side. This consists of a dedicated tweeter with a 25 mm aluminum dome and a 9 cm diameter woofer with a polypropylene membrane. It is supported at the bottom of the spectrum by two passive radiators with flat, 9.5 x 8 cm rectangular membranes, also aluminum, it would seem. It produces a very serious sound for such a small enclosure."

"With a lively and at the same time pleasant tone, there can be no doubt as to Raumfeld’s ambition to be known as the most musical of all the streaming brands."
AreaDVD 05.12.2014
"An excellent sense of spaciousness is created. If one isn’t looking at the speaker and isn’t aware of how small it is, it would be easy to believe that a larger device is playing.“

Conclusion
"The Raumfeld One S is extraordinarily compact and extremely multifaceted. Access to many streaming services as well as PCs, servers and data on smartphones and tablets open countless use scenarios. Initial setup, [...] proves itself to be truly short and simple. Once the One S is connected to a network, playback is convenient and reliable. With a lively and at the same time pleasant tone, there can be no doubt as to Raumfeld’s ambition to be known as the most musical of all the streaming brands. Hi-Res audio files can be easily played back by the One S. For its size, the One S also has good level stability. On the balance, an exception gateway to the Raumfeld world.”

SFT Magazin 11/2015
*The score refers to the Raumfeld System. The following devices were tested: The Once S, the Stereo Cubes and the Stereo M

"… the Raumfeld system enjoys great popularity in the multi-room segment, especially for all those for whom nothing less than hi-fi will do.“

"All of the components are well made. The solid metal and wood cabinet conveys a luxurious and premium image.”

"As soon as the multi-room system was set up and supplied with music, the sound of the individual components won us over […] completely. The Raumfeld speakers played with a great sense of openness and had a very fine sound. Above all, the Stereo M fully delivered on hi-fi expectations and gave a spirited performance that had a lot of dynamics at its disposal. This also applied to the smaller loudspeakers in the set which sounded very balanced and offered a lot of power for their size.”

"The Raumfeld One S is a great-sounding Wi-Fi speaker with bass response that could shame much larger speakers"
CNET 19.11.2015
"The Raumfeld One S is a great-sounding Wi-Fi speaker with bass response that could shame much larger speakers, and support for 24-bit/192 kHz files. The speaker is compact, and its water-resistance makes it a great choice for bathrooms and kitchens."

"Sonos has been the leader in whole-home music streaming industry for a long time, long enough to see numerous competitors fall by the wayside. In the last few years at least a dozen new players have emerged, including DTS' PlayFi, Bose's SoundTouch, Denon's HEOS and Yamaha's MusicCast. Now it's time to add to the mix Raumfeld, a German brand currently available in the UK and coming to the US soon.

While the company's line of wireless products gets pricey very quickly -- the Stereo L is over $2,000 -- the entry-level Raumfeld One S, which is $249 or £199, offers excellent sound quality and a robust design. Compared against both Denon's HEOS 1 and the Sonos Play:1, the Raumfeld comes out on top in terms of sonics and is the only one that supports higher-than-CD-quality music."

"With solid build quality and style the Raumfeld One S wireless speaker should look at home in almost any setting and comes with surprisingly punchy audio for such a small cube."
Trusted Reviews 30.04.2015

Raumfeld One S – Sound Quality

"The Raumfeld One S is an impressive-sounding speaker, especially when you consider its diminutive size. In some ways it’s even better than the current leader of the pack, the Sonos Play:1.

It uses the same two-way coaxial system as the excellent Raumfeld Stereo Cubes we reviewed recently. The 90mm mid-range driver, 25mm tweeter and two woofers provide a solid sound you’d expect to hear coming from something much, much bigger.

We don’t expect hi-fi-quality sound from a speaker this size and price, but music is clear, detailed and packs an impressive punch at higher levels. The One S can certainly fill a medium-sized room with rich, distortion-free sound.

Where the Raumfeld falls a little short is the low-end. Bass is a touch limited, even more so than the smaller Sonos Play:1. Unlike the cheaper TrustedReviews Awards-winning Samsung M3, however, the sound never gets muddied on bass-heavy tracks. It remains balanced and clear throughout, if a little weak. Listening to some Tricky and hip-hop albums lacked the low-end oomph that brings that genre to life. At top levels treble can be a little harsh too, but the midrange packs plenty of detail and clarity.

These issues are minor – most people not obsessed with audio fidelity will be thoroughly impressed with the power and sound quality of Raumfeld’s little marvel.

Overall we ever so slightly prefer the One S to the Sonos and Samsung, both in terms of a balanced sound and top volume level. If you’re into bass-heavy tracks, though, the Sonos or Samsung may be better bets."

"These premium speakers pump out incredible sound and can stream either DAB radio stations or your very own music over your home Wi-Fi network."
Recombu 24.03.2015

We review the Raumfeld One S, a seriously slick and durable multi-purpose music machine for your bathroom or kitchen.

"Raumfeld is hoping to fill your entire house with its comprehensive range of multi-room music streaming devices, and now that we’ve seen/heard them in action, we’re completely sold."

"These premium speakers pump out incredible sound and can stream either DAB radio stations or your very own music over your home Wi-Fi network. Raumfeld’s One S is the bathroom/kitchen model, toughened just enough to make it resistant to water splashes without ruining the consistent, premium aesthetics that dominate the range.

The One S sports an almost-cube build with a mesh front and black or white frame. The design is stunning and also plays well with pretty much any decor. A silicon control panel on top can be used to switch between four pre-set DAB radio stations or change volume, while the two dinky lights on the front show when the speaker is turned on and connected to Wi-Fi."

"[...] I’m really enthusiastic about Raumfeld speakers and would like to have one in every room of my apartment."
Imaedia 01.12.2015
“With its rounded corners and softly flowing form, the One S has a very sleek look which I really appreciate since it doesn’t seem intrusive. It simply fits comfortably into the overall décor, no matter where it’s placed."

"Raumfeld promises a quick and easy setup with its products […] it really is this easy.”

Conclusion

"[...] I’m really enthusiastic about Raumfeld speakers and would like to have one in every room of my apartment. The design is very pleasant and, with its simplicity, goes with every interior, but without allowing the loudspeakers to “disappear” [...]“

“Operating the system is really incredibly easy. After opening the app, start music playback and just enjoy.”

“I found the ability to listen to the same music in multiple rooms in particular to be a lot of fun [...]“

“I was also satisfied with the number of possible music sources. Access to one’s own music on the computer, connecting pen drives or another devices via line-in, radio stations and, of course, well-known streaming services – what more could one ask for?”

"I only have positive things to report regarding the loudspeaker’s sound. I like it; they sound warm and full and it’s possible to adjust the sound to one’s own preferences regarding treble, bass and the midrange.

The Raumfeld loudspeakers are really a well thought out concept that, from the unboxing to the setup and daily use, are simply a delight.”

"The material mix of brushed aluminium on the front and silicone on the control buttons - which renders them water repellent - and matte lacquer on the rest of the loudspeaker makes it not only a visual treat, but gives it a robust and high-end end appearance. The finishing allows it to visually blend into and room and fits in everywhere.”

"Considering that the loudspeaker is only the size of a pack of crackers, the output is simply insane. I was immediately impressed by the sound from this little noise maker.”

Conclusion:

"To sum up, I can only recommend Raumfeld to anyone considering buying a multi-room system. With its unbeatable price and the quality of the workmanship as well as the sound, one doesn’t have to mull over the decision for very long.”

"Visually and in terms of workmanship, the little streaming speaker really made a good impression [...]“

Features & Sound quality

"During the first listening trials, the excellent sound was so surprising that our chins literally dropped! It’s really astonishing what the sound engineers managed to pull off here.”

"We’ve had larger loudspeakers in for testing that didn’t come close to sounding as good as the Raumfeld One S. Its soundstage is very lively and harmonious with finely differentiated highs, a natural midrange and exceptionally far-reaching depth. On top of this is a level stability that we would never have suspected in this small of a loudspeaker.”

Conclusion

"The Raumfeld One S fits in perfectly in a living room environment thanks to its chic and compact design.“

"[...] excellent sonic qualities [...]“

"[...] by the very first listening test at the latest, the little loudspeakers will have won over the hearts of the biggest sceptics. The setup is child’s play and can be completed in five minutes by even the most inexperienced users.”

"Even in smaller to mid-sized living rooms, the One S is capable of a proper room-filling sound with precise highs and clean bass.”
i-fidelity.net 24.02.2015
"The first spontaneous question: Where on earth did this rich bass come from? One wouldn’t have expected it from the little pipsqueak. Even in smaller to mid-sized living rooms, the One S is capable of a proper room-filling sound with precise highs and clean bass.”

"The Raumfeld newby reproduces voices clearly and without distortion. The speaker even overflows with dynamics with quick concert sequences  […] and doesn’t doesn’t lose its rhythm.”

"The One S puts across a very mature performance – neither overly playful nor was it designed as a compromise. Naturally, the bass can’t compete against larger loudspeakers. The maximum levels are not infinite, but to criticize this would be like wondering why a VW Polo doesn’t stand a chance against a Porsche Carrera. "The sound quality is best described by the adjective 'impressive' and that in every respect."
Mac Life 08.12.2014
"As one has come to expect from Raumfeld, the One S is a technologically exceptional device. The moment you touch it, it becomes clear that you're dealing with a quality product and not another plastic box masquerading as a loudspeaker. The enclosure is well made, the design and the entire device, minimalistic. And for exactly this reason, the One S can be integrated into practically every living or working environment without making itself conspicuous [...].“

"The sound quality is best described by the adjective 'impressive' and that in every respect. After turning the device on, one is immediately blown away by the fact that a speaker with the dimensions 11 x 18 x 13 centimeters can deliver this sort of powerful and yet clean sound. “

"Once you recover from the shock and listen more closely, you notice that Raumfeld really does its job. The One S contains a tweeter, a midbass and two bass drivers. All-in-all, the ensemble delivers maximum sound pressure up to 101dB/1m – enough to fill even full-sized living rooms with sound. A 50 watt bi-amping amplifier ensures high volumes along with dynamic bass performance.”

"During setup and operation, one quickly realizes that truly smart people got together on this one. The connections on the back side are recessed so that no plugs protrude which would take up more space.”

"In spite of its mini dimensions, the Raumfeld One S is equipped with high-end technology. A 2-way coaxial system along with two 95 mm bass drivers are included which – together with the powerful 50 watt bi-amped amplifier produces, considering the size, a very good and homogenous sound that doesn’t fall short in the bass range and which fills the room dynamically and with precision. Oh, and the One S can be loud, too!”

Conclusion
"The Raumfeld One S is an ideal and reasonably priced introduction to the Raumfeld world - or a quick and uncomplicated way of expanding an existing system. Four station buttons make the system easy to use and rubberized and water resistant controls render the mini network loudspeaker perfect for bathrooms and kitchens.”

"I really love the way all kinds of info and settings are accessible from the main screen."
The HB Project 09/2015
Setting up

"Setup is really easy: start up the Raumfeld app and follow the instructions on screen. When that routine is finished you add one or more network shares that hold your music. You just select from a list of (possible) sources. Shown are computers that hold shared volumes or DLNA services."

The app

"Pressing the play button next to her name starts playing all her albums but you can also select one album or one track. Along the top of this window you can choose for sorting on album, genres, favorites, composers, recently added, by folder and on track. Tapping the left top corner of the album art shows the playlist, tap the center and the technical data of the music file are showed. Under the transport functions music zones can be activated, grouped and deactivated. The volume knob in the lower right corner also has a fold out menu for tone and balance control. Other sources are selected in the top row, where TuneIn offers plenty internet radio stations and subscription services as Tidal, WIMP, Spotify and Napster by Rhapsody. You can select the line input on any Raumfeld device in your system and play it on the same or any other Raumfeld device. I once said that any remote app for music players works just as fine, you just have to get used to it. The Raumfeld app proved me wrong. I really love the way all kinds of info and settings are accessible from the main screen. And that's even more than I have described here. The app isn’t as solidly robust as that of Sonos or Bluesound, it for instance jumps back to the home screen after short connection losses that occur from time to time. That doesn’t stop me from calling it my personal favorite but please do notice the word personal, for judging user interfaces always is a personal matter."

To sum up

"Comparison with the Squeezebox might seem odd, but it’s still popular despite being out of production for years and there still is an active second hand market. Replacing it with the Connector 2 might be interesting if you have a large music collection or if you want to play 24 bit 192 kHz files. The Logitech Media Server that provides Logitech devices with music is rather slow with large music collections, which is not the case with the Connector. Compared to the Sonos Connect it offers far more memory for storing the music catalogue and 24 bit 192 kHz playback at half the price. So if you have a stereo at or below the quality of my Set 3, the Teufel Raumfeld Connector 2 offers decent quality at a very low price."

"[...] This little box gives existing music systems that are not network enabled the ability to stream music and access Internet radio. In addition, it has an optical digital output as well as an analog stereo cinch connection and a line input with a sensitivity that can be regulated per software (app), a LAN interface, and USB port. [...] The on and off switch is located in an easy-to-reach position on the top  [...].

Setup and operation of the Raumfeld Connector can be executed via an optional remote control (Raumfeld Controller) or free app for mobile operating systems Android and iOS.

[...] As soon  [...] as the setup assistant is finished, it’s easy to play music from USB storage devices and DLNA servers, accessible computers, and music services like TuneIn, Napster, Simfy, or Last.fm. The current firmware can even handle extremely large music libraries (150,000 files) on network drives and USB devices. As one would expect from a high-end network player, high resolution audio files and gapless playback is supported.

Conclusion
The Raumfeld Connector is the perfect partner for systems lacking their own network functionality. The setup is quickly mastered, operating the device is simple, and the sound impressive."

“Teufel sells its miniature network player for a mere 200 Euros. In exchange, one gets an astonishing array of music possibilities as well as an alluring and extensive introduction into the world of Raumfeld. One namely has the ability to use the Connector 2 in combination with other network players from this manufacturer to build a multiroom connection [...] At first glance, the newcomer appears to be hardly different from its predecessor. The enclosure, however, is compacter. The reason for this is quickly ascertained: The WLAN antenna which was located on the back of the original Connector has been discreetly relocated in the interior of the enclosure. This change earns the new model high marks for style.”

“The basic structure of the network player hasn’t been changed by Teufel: The streamer plays music from UPnP or DLNA certified network servers along with NAS drives as well as the music library from any PC with Windows. It’s even capable of supporting sound formats [...] from USB storage devices connected to the back. Those who require more can tune in to tens of thousands of internet radio stations via the TuneIn service or can log in to his simfy or Napster account or make use of the analogue input. Should one possess more than one Raumfeld device, these signals can be streamed into other rooms. Unlike that first Connector, the new model can process a full 192 kilohertz.”

Conclusion

“It’s fast, easy to operate, sounds good and is inexpensive to boot. With the new Connector 2, Raumfeld gains ground on its main competitors.”

"Flexible to use and strong on sound – the ultra compact Connector2 delivers on all counts."
AreaDVD 07.06.2013
"The Connector2 can be integrated into networks with or without a cable. The cable connection is very simple. One simply inserts the appropriate network cable into the corresponding interface on the device and the Connector will be connected to the home network. [...]
If the Connector is connected to the Wi-Fi, it must be added as a ‘new room.’ For the setup, an Ethernet cable must be attached to the Connector, following which the Raumfeld App can be added. The router password must also be entered. The automated configuration for the Wi-Fi will follow, after which the LAN cable can be disconnected and the Connector2 will be wirelessly connected to the network.”

"The Connector plays MP3, WMA, WAV, AAC, FLAC, OGG and Apple Lossless. A 192 kHz sampling rate is supported which makes the Connector2 compatible with high-resolution audio files. [...] The Connector creates an impressive-sounding playback with 192 kHz FLAC pieces such as Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart’s violin concert (SL Recording) in D minor. The details, clarity, and dimensionality are highly pronounced. The violins as the primary carriers of the song sound brilliant without having too sharp a tone. Even the complex piece ‘La Mer’ by Claude Debussy was captured in a very multifaceted way, including the many small dynamic differences which were accurately produced. The 96 kHz FLAC piece ‘Stop This World’ by Diana Krall has a lively, emphatic quality with a taut bass that is well differentiated in the listening room. Dianas’ voice has a smokey undertone, giving it a charismatic quality.

Depending on how good the D/A converter in one’s amplifier/receiver is, it’s possible to access the digital connection if this is available. In any case, we recommend a listening test before deciding on an analog or digital connection. Especially with older or inexpensive amplifiers/receivers, the use of the Connector’s very good D/A converter can be the better option. Even when bitstreams are transmitted from Internet radio platforms (TuneIn), the Connector ensures a lively, dimensionally rich sound with a high degree of clarity. The reliability of the transmission is very high. It doesn’t matter whether it’s connected to a LAN or Wi-Fi – interruptions are almost never discerned. This is true for the reproduction of Internet music streams as well as sound files from PCs or servers.”

Conclusion

"All told, Teufel offers a highly polished solution that can make hifi systems and older surround receivers fit for the era of modern media. With the exception of Spotify, all relevant music services are integrated and it’s easy to add music resources from PCs, servers, and USB storage devices. Playlists are quickly set up and can then be easily accessed. A free app enables simple handling so that even less experienced users can quickly and easily figure it out. The Connector2 can be connected to the network either with a cable or wirelessly. No Wi-Fi antenna intrudes upon the compact enclosure. The sound that the very compact and therefore easily accommodated Connector makes available is excellent and corresponds with Raumfeld’s claim to offer first-class streaming quality.

Flexible to use and strong on sound – the ultra compact Connector2 delivers on all counts."

Help regarding this product
I have no more access to the internet radio directory TuneIn in my Teufel Raumfeld app. What could be the reason?
For the further use of the radio service TuneIn, a software update may be required. The update is free of charge and only takes a few minutes. The software can easily be checked and updated:
  1. Start up all devices and opening the Teufel Raumfeld App.
  2. The main menu can now be called up on the app screen by briefly swiping to the right.
  3. First select "Settings" in the main menu, then menu item "System maintenance" and finally "Updates". By simply tapping on the "Check for updates" button, the device will automatically start to search for and download the latest version.
  4. After the download is complete, the update can be re-started by pressing the button again. This takes a maximum of about 3-5 minutes. Afterwards, TuneIn can be used again as usual.
I can find settings for my subwoofer in the Teufel Raumfeld app. What are these for?
The menu items "subwoofer volume" and "subwoofer crossover frequency" are only stored in the app menu under "room settings" if a Teufel Streaming soundbar is operated over the same Wi-Fi connection. With a soundbar/subwoofer combination, the sound signal is "distributed" to the devices, i.e. the sounbar outputs the higher frequencies and the subwoofer, the lower ones. This signal distribution is defined under the menu item "subwoofer crossover frequency". Installation tips:
  • Leave the crossover frequency on the default setting if you are satisfied with the sound or if the Teufel Streaming subwoofer is located close to the soundbar (recommended).
  • If the subwoofer is placed at the side or at the back of the room, it is possible that the overall sound may no longer be harmonious. In this case, try changing the crossover frequency in the app until you are satisfied with the sound.
  • If, for example, the sound image of the soundbar is too thin, reduce the crossover frequency. If the bass sounds too flat, increase the crossover frequency.
  • You can also adjust the subwoofer volume separately.
I want to save a Chromecast stream on the direct selection keys (not applicable to all devices). How can I do this?
For technical reasons, it is not possible to store Chromecast streams on the direct selection keys.
The Teufel Raumfeld app setup wizard does not find a device after pressing the setup key on the back of the device. The display shows "Searching for device..." or "No device found". What can I do?
There are many reasons why a Teufel Streaming device may not be found during setup, i.e. when the app displays the notifications "Searching for device“ or "Not found”. The following will cover the most likely causes as well as possible solutions.

1) It’s possible that your home Wi-Fi is unable to recognise the device due to certain settings on your Wi-Fi router.

Solution: You can enable your Wi-Fi to recognise the device by directly connecting the Teufel Streaming device to your router via Ethernet cable and repeating the setup process.

2) Other active network devices may prevent your Wi-Fi router from recognising the device. Solution: Deactivate all devices (such as smart TVs, laptops, smartphones, tablets, AV receivers, media servers) that use your LAN or Wi-Fi network for the duration of the Teufel Streaming setup process. Before beginning a new setup process, be sure to restart your Wi-Fi router and complete the setup using a single smartphone.

3) The use of switches, repeaters and additional access points within your home Wi-Fi network can hinder device recognition. Solution: Either restart all additional network devices or turn off these devices for the duration of the setup process.

4) If you use a cordless phone over a landline (DECT) and have this phone in the vicinity of your router or Teufel Streaming device, it may be disrupting your Wi-Fi signal. This is because both DECT and Wi-Fi use the same 2.4 GHz signal.

Solution: Relocate your DECT base station or switch off your DECT telephone for the duration of the setup process.
The Teufel Raumfeld app indicates an error after selecting the Wi-Fi and entering the network key (Wi-Fi password). What could be the reason for this?
If you're using a smart device with the Android operating system version 5.X (Lollipop), the problem could caused by two possible smart device settings:

1) The setting "Smart network change" switches the smart device to the mobile network whenever the WiFi signal becomes too weak. Since Teufel Streaming requires a continuous Wi-Fi connection, this setting cannot be used.

2) The "Auto IP Support" function determines when the home Wi-Fi network does not support DHCP (the automatic assignation of a network address). Although a very useful feature, Auto IP Support cannot be used with the Teufel Streaming system. This is because Teufel Streaming devices need to be assigned an IP from the router in order to independently communicate with the home network and internet.

Solution: The Android functions "Smart network change" and "Auto IP Support" should be deactivated. Next, ensure that your router allows for DHCP and then repeat the setup process.
During setup, the Wi-Fi network via which the system is to be integrated in the future must be selected in the app. However, my home network is not listed in the selection list. What could be the reason?
The following are a few reasons why your Wi-Fi network may not appear in the list presented in the app:

1) If the signal strength of your Wi-Fi network is only 30% or less where you are holding your phone, it will not appear. Since the system requires a signal strength greater than 30% in order to function without drops in playback, only networks that offer this minimum signal strength will be displayed.

Solution: Increase the signal strength of your Wi-Fi signal and/or find a better place for your device.

2) It’s technically possible to hide a Wi-Fi network. This option is usually offered in a Wi-Fi router’s settings. If you’ve selected this setting option, your home network will not be displayed within the app.

Solution: Make sure that the Wi-Fi is set to "visible“.
One advantage of streaming with Chromecast is that you can continue to use your usual music app. How can I check if my apps already support Chromecast?
Chromecast built-in already supports 100+ apps, including many popular music services, and works with the Chrome browser. You’ll find an exact overview of all Cast-enabled apps here:

https://www.google.com/intl/en_us/chromecast/built-in/apps/

Tip: If you didn’t find your app on this list, you may want to contact the provider directly and ask when Chromecast will be integrated. In the meantime, you should have no trouble finding an alternative from the large selection of Chromecast-enabled apps.
I also want to use Chromecast's multi-room function and stream to multiple speakers at the same time. How can I do this?
Multi-room streaming is also possible with Chromecast. To do this, create a grouping of speakers within the free Google Home app which you will need to install on your smart device. You can name created groups on the app.

After you create and name your groups, they will appear alongside individual Cast-enabled speakers in your music app.

Google Home App (Play Store)

App Store iOS
I use the Spotify app to stream to my speakers. I don't see any or not all of my Chromecast speakers under "Available devices". What could be the reason?
In order to stream with Chromecast built-in, you’ll need the most recent version of the Spotify App. We recommend updating your app and trying again. Please note that you will also require a Spotify premium account in order to stream to your speakers.
I like watching YouTube videos. Can I now use Chromecast to wirelessly output the sound of YouTube videos while watching them?
The wireless transmission of audio content from YouTube is possible with the following:

1: A computer running on either the Windows 10/8.1/8/7 32 bit, Mac OS X 10.9 (or higher) or Linux operating systems.

2: A current version of the Chrome browser. You can download the most recent version here:
https://www.google.com/intl/en/chrome/browser/desktop/

3: The Chromecast built-in extension for the Chrome browser (if not already integrated)

4: A least one Teufel Streaming device with Chromecast built-in registered to the same Wi-Fi network as the computer using the Chrome browser

Begin a YouTube video. Select the “streaming” option from the “more” menu in the Chrome browser. This will call up a menu displaying all Teufel Streaming devices in the network that can play back the audio.

Restrictions:
  • The video displayed on your screen and audio from your speaker may not be in perfect sync.
  • It is not currently possible to directly cast audio from the YouTube app for iOS or Android.

Tip for Android users: You can stream audio from the YouTube app on Android devices using the Android mirroring function. To do so, simply complete the following steps:

Step 1: Install the “Google Home App” and open the menu on the left side.

Step 2: Tap on the option “Screen/Audio streaming” and select the Teufel Streaming device you wish to cast audio to. An active connection will be displayed in your smartphone’s status bar.

Unfortunately, this option is not currently available for smart devices operating on iOS systems.

Step 3: Switch back to the YouTube App and start a video as you normally would. The audio will play from the Teufel Streaming device you just selected.

Please note that the picture and audio may not be in perfect sync.
How can I tell if my Teufel Streaming/Raumfeld devices are compatible with Chromecast built-in?
Chromecast is supported by Teufel Streaming / Raumfeld devices which have a Raumfeld logo on the front panel and no external Wi-Fi antenna on the rear panel. Chromecast is also supported by the Raumfeld Soundbar / Sounddeck and the Teufel Sounddeck Streaming / Teufel Soundbar Streaming.
Access to my Expand (previously called Base) via Finder is slow or not possible at all
We have received feedback from a few users that accessing the network share "Raumfeld Expand" via Finder may take long or is not possible at all.

In order to solve the problem, perform the following steps on your Mac:

    * Open System Menu > Software Update... and make sure you've installed the latest software version. Otherwise perform a software update.
    * Disable spotlight for the Raumfeld Expand by adding the Expand's "MUSIC" folder to the list of locations under System Settings > Spotlight > Privacy.

Should the speed of access not be improved by these settings, please get in touch with our service team.
My Expand (previously called Base) does not start (left LED lights up, middle LED flashes every 5 seconds).
If the Raumfeld Expand doesn't start properly after setup (left LED permanently lid, centre LED flashing every 5 seconds), it doesn't receive an IP address from your network router.

We suggest to probe the following solutions step by step. Should the problem persist afterwards, please get in touch with our service team.
  • First make sure that the router is connected to the proper port (right network port, labelled "ROUTER"). To connect a computer, always use the network port on the left (labelled with a network symbol).
If you operate the Expand without a connection to your network router make sure that the ROUTER port is free.
  • Reboot your network router.
  • If the problem persists, check the settings of your network router:
    • DHCP must be activated
    • The DHCP server should automatically assign IP addresses to computers in the network.
    • If you prefer not to enable automatic IP addresses, make sure a static IP address is assigned to each device. Please note that the same IP address must not be assigned to multiple devices.
Do I need a Raumfeld Expand (previously named Base)?
A Raumfeld Expand is recommended in a multi room system. If you would only like to play music in a single room you only need a playback device and a controller (Raumfeld Controller or Teufel Raumfeld app for your smartphone).

Role of the Raumfeld Expand
  • By creating a dedicated Wi-Fi network it provides the bandwidth for a lossless transmission
  • By connecting to your home network the Expand is able to access your music stored on a computer or NAS (network attached storage). With the Raumfeld Controller you then have access to your complete digital music library.
  • If you own a Raumfeld Expand the size of your music library may exceed 200,000 tracks. Instead, without the Raumfeld Expand, the maximum capacity of your music database is about 50,000 tracks.

Should you wish to extend your system with a Raumfeld Expand, get in touch with our customer service team.
Do I need other devices to help make the Raumfeld One work?
No, there are no additional devices and/or appliances needed for the Raumfeld One. All you need is a remote, which can be your Raumfeld Controller or simply use the free Raumfeld App via your Smartphone with iOS or Android (iPhone/iPod Touch/iPad or Android). Needless to say, a wireless access point (Router) over internet (ethernet) is required.
Why does the One S come with an allen screw?
The included allen screw makes it possible to attach the One S to a wall mount. You’ll find the corresponding bolt hole beneath the removable magnetic base plate (only with the 2nd generation).
No sound with high sample rates (Connector 2)
The Raumfeld Connector allows playback of music files with very high sample rates (up to 192 kBit). By connecting it to your stereo receiver you are able to enjoy high resoultion music files on your stereo set.

Unfortunately not all stereo receivers can process high sample rates on the optical input. If the Connector sends a signal with a higher sample rate than your stereo receiver is able to process it will not play the signal. Hence there is no sound.

In order to solve this problem the Connector offers the configuration option "Maximum sample rate on optical output". You will find it under Settings > Room Configuration > (Room name of Connector) > Connector.

This option allows you to set the maximum sample rate your stereo receiver is able to process. The Connector will then down-sample material with a higher sample rate to the denoted maximum sample rate.
I have a Connector connected to my system via a digital optical cable and sometimes experience drops in the music stream. What can I do to ensure even playback?
You can adjust the maximum sampling rate in the Connector’s configuration menu within the Raumfeld App. Try reducing this rate until your streams of music play without drops. If this does not help, activate the “fixed clock” option by checking the box. You’ll find the Connector’s configuration menu in the Raumfeld App under Settings>Room Configuration>Your Rooms(Select Connector) > Room Details(Select Connector again).
