Together with your router, the Raumfeld Expand creates the perfect WiFi streaming environment

After an easy installation process, the Expand automatically connects directly to your WiFi router and communicates the signal without drops or interruptions to each Raumfeld device in your network. The little organizational wonder can also host media storage devices via its USB port, making it possible to stream titles from your digital library. The system's memory can index up to 200,000 titles for anytime access via the Raumfeld Controller App.

Home WiFi signals can be brought to the breaking point by many competing devices, the transmission of larger files or thick walls. The result is often dropped signals and interruptions – irritating hindrances to the enjoyment of your music. The Raumfeld Expand puts your music streams back in the fast lane by creating an autonomous WiFi signal exclusively for your Raumfeld system.

Lossless audio tracks can place a large burden on home WiFi systems which often host a range of other devices from smartphones and tablets to game consoles. To facilitate the best multi-room experience with top quality digital music files, the Raumfeld Expand create a dedicated WiFi network for your music. The system can manage an incredible 200,000 tracks for instant access to your favourites, playlists and other personal settings across a huge range of music via the Raumfeld App.

Autonomous, not exclusive

In addition, the Expand is equipped with a USB port to which even large external hard drives can be directly attached. NAS and DLNA/UPnP media servers containing compatible music files can also be accessed by the system.

Audio streaming without frontiers

Lossless audio presents a challenge to audio streaming because of the large volumes of data involved. In order to cope with bigger quantities of data within a limited broadband, many manufacturers of streaming products compromise the signal. In other words, the lossless files that you select from a service like TIDAL or your private music library is not what is played back. Raumfeld, however, respects the integrity of all music files and does not compress them for easier streaming. The Expand creates the wireless infrastructure needed for streaming the best quality audio without compromise.

Equipped with two adjustable antennas for incredibly reliable and fast transmission, the Expand is perfect for situations where a weak router, thick walls or the use of many streaming devices at once hinders the smooth streaming of larger files. The external placement of the antennas extends the range of the wireless network for music enjoyment without drops or disruptions from multiple Raumfeld players in any room in your home.

State-of-the-art streaming, down-to-earth setup

Integrating the Expand into your Raumfeld system requires absolutely no prior technical knowledge. Simply connect the device to your WiFi router via the included Ethernet cable and let the system do the rest. The Expand automatically recognizes all Raumfeld players already connected to your router. Additional Raumfeld players can be added to the network with the simple press of a button. A single, discreet LED light keeps the user updated as to the device’s status.

Thanks to its compact dimensions and integrated wall mounts, the Expand is easy to integrate into your home.

The Raumfeld Soundbar effortlessly masters two sonic realms: Home cinema and music. The stunning lacquered wood and brushed aluminium wireless system uses Wellenfeld Technology to produce an astonishingly broad soundstage.

The result is immersive sound no matter where you sit in the room. A powerful active subwoofer in an innovative flat design receives audio signals from the Soundbar in lossless sound quality for deep and punchy bass with movies, games and music. Its discreet design allows the sub to be placed anywhere in the room – even under a sofa!

Integrated Wi-Fi streaming technology makes it possible to stream a range of digital music formats including lossless files to the system and play them back in hi-fi sound quality. With the free Raumfeld Controller App for Android and iOS, it’s easy to select music from various streaming providers, internet radio and your own collection. In addition, the Raumfeld Soundbar works seamlessly with other Raumfeld devices for the ultimate multi-room audio experience.

The living room of the future: The Raumfeld Soundbar + HD TV

The Raumfeld Soundbar is perfect for use in interiors that either have no space for a traditional 5.1 home theatre system or where many audio components would spoil the overall look. Simply connect the attractive and sleekly styled Soundbar to your HD TV via HDMI cable and follow the push-button pairing procedure for the wireless sub. You won’t need any additional devices such as an amplifier or A/V receiver.

The Soundbar should be centred in front of your television set, either mounted on the wall or placed on the included table stand beneath the display.

Included connections: HDMI with ARC/CDC, digital and stereo RCA

A variety of connections on the Raumfeld Soundbar offer you maximum flexibility. HDMI 1.4 with Audio Return Channel (ARC) means that the HDMI connection functions either as an input or output channel depending on the desired playback. The Soundbar also supports CEC, a widely adopted standard for centrally controlling multiple devices. If your television also supports CEC, you can use your TV remote to control the Raumfeld Soundbar as well. Alternately, you can use the stylish brushed aluminium remote that comes with the system for controlling all essential functions from a distance of up to 10 meters. For even faster access to your favourite streams, there are preset buttons on the Soundbar itself. And, of course, there is the free app for Android and iOS smartphones and tablets. In short, the Raumfeld Soundbar not only offers a maximum of connection options, you’ll enjoy incredible flexibility when it comes to controlling the system.

Please note: To be able to use the Raumfeld Soundbar via the HDMI-ARC/CEC connection, you must first ensure that your television supports HDMI 1.4 with Audio Return Channel.

Alternately, you can connect your television to your Raumfeld system via digital optical cable.

Wellenfeld sound technology engineered in Berlin

Our sound engineers developed Wellenfeld Technology for generating a surround sound experience from a compact enclosure. Using a lightning-fast DSP chip and sophisticated algorithm, the Raumfeld Soundbar’s 6 drivers are expertly guided in the creation of an immersive, 3-dimensional sound image.

Unlike virtual surround technologies, the algorithm used for the Raumfeld Soundbar doesn't rely on psychoacoustics. Instead, the 6 drivers to work together in such a way that the entire room is actually filled with 3D sound that extends far beyond the size of the system for a thrilling home cinema experience anywhere you sit.

Music streaming in hi-fi sound quality? Raumfeld makes it possible.

The Raumfeld Soundbar’s ability to quickly and easily connect to your home Wi-Fi gives you access to a world of music – at the tap of a finger.

As part of the Raumfeld system, the Soundbar not only lets you listen to music via your home Wi-Fi, it works seamlessly with all other Raumfeld devices. That means that not only can you use the Soundbar for all your music streaming needs, additional Raumfeld devices can be added to your home network for multi-room streaming. The Soundbar and its active subwoofer can play in perfect sync with other Raumfeld devices in the same network. You can also play different tracks on each device for multicast streaming with easy, centralised controls thanks to the Raumfeld App.

A complete stereo system – and then some

Amplifier, tuner, CD player and loudspeaker: The Raumfeld Soundbar does the work of all of these devices and more. With a combined 280 watts at their disposal, the Soundbar and Subwoofer have enough power to fill even larger rooms with thrilling movie sound and music.

Advanced acoustic technology transforms your living room into a sonic oasis

Many speakers have a great sound – as long as you sit in exactly the right spot, commonly referred to as the “sweet spot.” The problem is that this space isn’t usually big enough to include a larger group of friends or a whole family. Some people inevitably get relegated to the “cheap seats.” The Raumfeld Soundbar was engineered to allow the greatest number of people to enjoy cinema sound and music as it was meant to be heard. That’s why our acoustic engineers developed a special playback algorithm capable of expanding the listening zone well beyond the physical dimenions of the device.

Tap into the possibilities of streaming with the Raumfeld Controller App

The free Raumfeld Controller App for Android and iOS mobile devices allows you to effortlessly select music from various sources and assign the streams to Raumfeld devices in your home.  If you have more than one Raumfeld device, you can assign speakers to individual listening zones. Control the volume and equalizer levels on each speaker or zone, create playlists and browse through the immense music libraries of Raumfeld’s streaming partners or your own digital collection.
Streaming WiFi Raumfeld Soundbar Subwoofer Bass
The Raumfeld Soundbar & Raumfeld Subwoofer: Perfect harmony
The Raumfeld Soundbar’s integrated class D amplifier powers 6 x 70 mm drivers with 150 watts for sound pressure levels up to 102 dB.

The Soundbar’s dynamic, enveloping sound is supported by the Raumfeld Subwoofer. Like the Soundbar, the active sub is also equipped with a class D amplifier for firing its 3 bass drivers with 200 watts. A 35 Hz low end ensures that movie soundtracks can be felt as well as heard. The use of 3 smaller high-excursion drivers instead of a single large woofer makes it possible to give the Subwoofer its compact design. Not your typical boxy sub, the Raumfeld Subwoofer can be slid under a sofa in a horizontal position or even hung vertically behind a sideboard. This amazing advantage comes at no cost to performance. Deep and punchy bass that is never “boomy” or muddy is what you can expect.

"With the Raumfeld Connector², the Berliners have a network audio player in their product portfolio […] that unites two worlds: The worlds of hi-fi systems and that of music from the internet.”

"I really love the way all kinds of info and settings are accessible from the main screen."
The HB Project 09/2015
Setting up

"Setup is really easy: start up the Raumfeld app and follow the instructions on screen. When that routine is finished you add one or more network shares that hold your music. You just select from a list of (possible) sources. Shown are computers that hold shared volumes or DLNA services."

The app

"Pressing the play button next to her name starts playing all her albums but you can also select one album or one track. Along the top of this window you can choose for sorting on album, genres, favorites, composers, recently added, by folder and on track. Tapping the left top corner of the album art shows the playlist, tap the center and the technical data of the music file are showed. Under the transport functions music zones can be activated, grouped and deactivated. The volume knob in the lower right corner also has a fold out menu for tone and balance control. Other sources are selected in the top row, where TuneIn offers plenty internet radio stations and subscription services as Tidal, WIMP, Spotify and Napster by Rhapsody. You can select the line input on any Raumfeld device in your system and play it on the same or any other Raumfeld device. I once said that any remote app for music players works just as fine, you just have to get used to it. The Raumfeld app proved me wrong. I really love the way all kinds of info and settings are accessible from the main screen. And that's even more than I have described here. The app isn’t as solidly robust as that of Sonos or Bluesound, it for instance jumps back to the home screen after short connection losses that occur from time to time. That doesn’t stop me from calling it my personal favorite but please do notice the word personal, for judging user interfaces always is a personal matter."

To sum up

"Comparison with the Squeezebox might seem odd, but it’s still popular despite being out of production for years and there still is an active second hand market. Replacing it with the Connector 2 might be interesting if you have a large music collection or if you want to play 24 bit 192 kHz files. The Logitech Media Server that provides Logitech devices with music is rather slow with large music collections, which is not the case with the Connector. Compared to the Sonos Connect it offers far more memory for storing the music catalogue and 24 bit 192 kHz playback at half the price. So if you have a stereo at or below the quality of my Set 3, the Teufel Raumfeld Connector 2 offers decent quality at a very low price."

"The Raumfeld Connector is the perfect partner for systems lacking their own network functionality."
Audiovision 08/2013
"[...] This little box gives existing music systems that are not network enabled the ability to stream music and access Internet radio. In addition, it has an optical digital output as well as an analog stereo cinch connection and a line input with a sensitivity that can be regulated per software (app), a LAN interface, and USB port. [...] The on and off switch is located in an easy-to-reach position on the top  [...].

Setup and operation of the Raumfeld Connector can be executed via an optional remote control (Raumfeld Controller) or free app for mobile operating systems Android and iOS.

[...] As soon  [...] as the setup assistant is finished, it’s easy to play music from USB storage devices and DLNA servers, accessible computers, and music services like TuneIn, Napster, Simfy, or Last.fm. The current firmware can even handle extremely large music libraries (150,000 files) on network drives and USB devices. As one would expect from a high-end network player, high resolution audio files and gapless playback is supported.

Conclusion
The Raumfeld Connector is the perfect partner for systems lacking their own network functionality. The setup is quickly mastered, operating the device is simple, and the sound impressive."

"Those who are not just looking at comfort when it comes to multiroom, but maximum sound quality as well should take a closer look at Raumfeld."
Smart Homes 06/2013
"Raumfeld - the name already sounds superior. [...] Three different stereo speaker systems, a one speaker solution and – last, but not least – the Raumfeld Connector for connecting an existing hi-fi system combine to create a product range that just about satisfies every requirement. All components communicate with each other via accessible WLAN through which they also have access to music libraries available in the network [...]. In addition, Raumfeld naturally has command of Internet radio and various streaming services [...].”

Conclusion

"Those who are not just looking at comfort when it comes to multiroom, but maximum sound quality as well should take a closer look at Raumfeld. The system plays nearly all file formats, including many lossless and high resolution varieties, and therefore guarantees maximum music enjoyment with minimum cabling effort.”

“Teufel sells its miniature network player for a mere 200 Euros. In exchange, one gets an astonishing array of music possibilities as well as an alluring and extensive introduction into the world of Raumfeld. One namely has the ability to use the Connector 2 in combination with other network players from this manufacturer to build a multiroom connection [...] At first glance, the newcomer appears to be hardly different from its predecessor. The enclosure, however, is compacter. The reason for this is quickly ascertained: The WLAN antenna which was located on the back of the original Connector has been discreetly relocated in the interior of the enclosure. This change earns the new model high marks for style.”

“The basic structure of the network player hasn’t been changed by Teufel: The streamer plays music from UPnP or DLNA certified network servers along with NAS drives as well as the music library from any PC with Windows. It’s even capable of supporting sound formats [...] from USB storage devices connected to the back. Those who require more can tune in to tens of thousands of internet radio stations via the TuneIn service or can log in to his simfy or Napster account or make use of the analogue input. Should one possess more than one Raumfeld device, these signals can be streamed into other rooms. Unlike that first Connector, the new model can process a full 192 kilohertz.”

Conclusion

“It’s fast, easy to operate, sounds good and is inexpensive to boot. With the new Connector 2, Raumfeld gains ground on its main competitors.”

"Flexible to use and strong on sound – the ultra compact Connector2 delivers on all counts."
AreaDVD 07.06.2013
"The Connector2 can be integrated into networks with or without a cable. The cable connection is very simple. One simply inserts the appropriate network cable into the corresponding interface on the device and the Connector will be connected to the home network. [...]
If the Connector is connected to the Wi-Fi, it must be added as a ‘new room.’ For the setup, an Ethernet cable must be attached to the Connector, following which the Raumfeld App can be added. The router password must also be entered. The automated configuration for the Wi-Fi will follow, after which the LAN cable can be disconnected and the Connector2 will be wirelessly connected to the network.”

"The Connector plays MP3, WMA, WAV, AAC, FLAC, OGG and Apple Lossless. A 192 kHz sampling rate is supported which makes the Connector2 compatible with high-resolution audio files. [...] The Connector creates an impressive-sounding playback with 192 kHz FLAC pieces such as Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart’s violin concert (SL Recording) in D minor. The details, clarity, and dimensionality are highly pronounced. The violins as the primary carriers of the song sound brilliant without having too sharp a tone. Even the complex piece ‘La Mer’ by Claude Debussy was captured in a very multifaceted way, including the many small dynamic differences which were accurately produced. The 96 kHz FLAC piece ‘Stop This World’ by Diana Krall has a lively, emphatic quality with a taut bass that is well differentiated in the listening room. Dianas’ voice has a smokey undertone, giving it a charismatic quality.

Depending on how good the D/A converter in one’s amplifier/receiver is, it’s possible to access the digital connection if this is available. In any case, we recommend a listening test before deciding on an analog or digital connection. Especially with older or inexpensive amplifiers/receivers, the use of the Connector’s very good D/A converter can be the better option. Even when bitstreams are transmitted from Internet radio platforms (TuneIn), the Connector ensures a lively, dimensionally rich sound with a high degree of clarity. The reliability of the transmission is very high. It doesn’t matter whether it’s connected to a LAN or Wi-Fi – interruptions are almost never discerned. This is true for the reproduction of Internet music streams as well as sound files from PCs or servers.”

Conclusion

"All told, Teufel offers a highly polished solution that can make hifi systems and older surround receivers fit for the era of modern media. With the exception of Spotify, all relevant music services are integrated and it’s easy to add music resources from PCs, servers, and USB storage devices. Playlists are quickly set up and can then be easily accessed. A free app enables simple handling so that even less experienced users can quickly and easily figure it out. The Connector2 can be connected to the network either with a cable or wirelessly. No Wi-Fi antenna intrudes upon the compact enclosure. The sound that the very compact and therefore easily accommodated Connector makes available is excellent and corresponds with Raumfeld’s claim to offer first-class streaming quality.

Flexible to use and strong on sound – the ultra compact Connector2 delivers on all counts."

Help regarding this product
I want to save a Chromecast stream on the direct selection keys (not applicable to all devices). How can I do this?
For technical reasons, it is not possible to store Chromecast streams on the direct selection keys.
One advantage of streaming with Chromecast is that you can continue to use your usual music app. How can I check if my apps already support Chromecast?
Chromecast built-in already supports 100+ apps, including many popular music services, and works with the Chrome browser. You’ll find an exact overview of all Cast-enabled apps here:

https://www.google.com/intl/en_us/chromecast/built-in/apps/

Tip: If you didn’t find your app on this list, you may want to contact the provider directly and ask when Chromecast will be integrated. In the meantime, you should have no trouble finding an alternative from the large selection of Chromecast-enabled apps.
I also want to use Chromecast's multi-room function and stream to multiple speakers at the same time. How can I do this?
Multi-room streaming is also possible with Chromecast. To do this, create a grouping of speakers within the free Google Home app which you will need to install on your smart device. You can name created groups on the app.

After you create and name your groups, they will appear alongside individual Cast-enabled speakers in your music app.

Google Home App (Play Store)

App Store iOS
I use the Spotify app to stream to my speakers. I don't see any or not all of my Chromecast speakers under "Available devices". What could be the reason?
In order to stream with Chromecast built-in, you’ll need the most recent version of the Spotify App. We recommend updating your app and trying again. Please note that you will also require a Spotify premium account in order to stream to your speakers.
I like watching YouTube videos. Can I now use Chromecast to wirelessly output the sound of YouTube videos while watching them?
The wireless transmission of audio content from YouTube is possible with the following:

1: A computer running on either the Windows 10/8.1/8/7 32 bit, Mac OS X 10.9 (or higher) or Linux operating systems.

2: A current version of the Chrome browser. You can download the most recent version here:
https://www.google.com/intl/en/chrome/browser/desktop/

3: The Chromecast built-in extension for the Chrome browser (if not already integrated)

4: A least one Teufel Streaming device with Chromecast built-in registered to the same Wi-Fi network as the computer using the Chrome browser

Begin a YouTube video. Select the “streaming” option from the “more” menu in the Chrome browser. This will call up a menu displaying all Teufel Streaming devices in the network that can play back the audio.

Restrictions:
  • The video displayed on your screen and audio from your speaker may not be in perfect sync.
  • It is not currently possible to directly cast audio from the YouTube app for iOS or Android.

Tip for Android users: You can stream audio from the YouTube app on Android devices using the Android mirroring function. To do so, simply complete the following steps:

Step 1: Install the “Google Home App” and open the menu on the left side.

Step 2: Tap on the option “Screen/Audio streaming” and select the Teufel Streaming device you wish to cast audio to. An active connection will be displayed in your smartphone’s status bar.

Unfortunately, this option is not currently available for smart devices operating on iOS systems.

Step 3: Switch back to the YouTube App and start a video as you normally would. The audio will play from the Teufel Streaming device you just selected.

Please note that the picture and audio may not be in perfect sync.
How can I tell if my Teufel Streaming/Raumfeld devices are compatible with Chromecast built-in?
Chromecast is supported by Teufel Streaming / Raumfeld devices which have a Raumfeld logo on the front panel and no external Wi-Fi antenna on the rear panel. Chromecast is also supported by the Raumfeld Soundbar / Sounddeck and the Teufel Sounddeck Streaming / Teufel Soundbar Streaming.

Access to my Expand (previously called Base) via Finder is slow or not possible at all
We have received feedback from a few users that accessing the network share "Raumfeld Expand" via Finder may take long or is not possible at all.

In order to solve the problem, perform the following steps on your Mac:

    * Open System Menu > Software Update... and make sure you've installed the latest software version. Otherwise perform a software update.
    * Disable spotlight for the Raumfeld Expand by adding the Expand's "MUSIC" folder to the list of locations under System Settings > Spotlight > Privacy.

Should the speed of access not be improved by these settings, please get in touch with our service team.
Kann ich meinen Expand (alte Bezeichnung Base) auch mit einer größeren Festplatte geliefert bekommen?
At present the Raumfeld Expand is only being sold with an hard disk size of 160 GB. However, the storage space of your Raumfeld Expand can be extended by connecting hard disks onto the two USB 2.0 inputs. Another possibility to increase the storage capacity of the complete system is to integrate an NAS (Network Attached Storage) into your network (Also look up Music Resources in the online manual).
My Expand (previously called Base) does not start (left LED lights up, middle LED flashes every 5 seconds).
If the Raumfeld Expand doesn't start properly after setup (left LED permanently lid, centre LED flashing every 5 seconds), it doesn't receive an IP address from your network router.

We suggest to probe the following solutions step by step. Should the problem persist afterwards, please get in touch with our service team.
  • First make sure that the router is connected to the proper port (right network port, labelled "ROUTER"). To connect a computer, always use the network port on the left (labelled with a network symbol).
If you operate the Expand without a connection to your network router make sure that the ROUTER port is free.
  • Reboot your network router.
  • If the problem persists, check the settings of your network router:
    • DHCP must be activated
    • The DHCP server should automatically assign IP addresses to computers in the network.
    • If you prefer not to enable automatic IP addresses, make sure a static IP address is assigned to each device. Please note that the same IP address must not be assigned to multiple devices.
Der Raumfeld Expand (alte Bezeichnung Base) reagiert nach dem Update nicht mehr. Was kann ich tun?
Should the Expand not react after installing an update please remove the power plug for at least 3 minutes. Afterwards, the Expand should boot normally.
Should removing the power plug not be sufficient to restore system functionality, please perform the following steps which will recover the Expand.  Hereby, all settings and data stored on the internal hard disk of the Expand will be preserved.

Instructions for Expand Recovery
Please first download the file "base.img" and copy it to a USB stick:
http://updates.raumfeld.com/repair/base.img

Then perform the following steps:
  1. First remove the Expand's power plug for at least 30 seconds.
  2. Then, connect the USB stick to the upper USB port of the Expand.
  3. Press and hold the setup button on the back of the device while you attach the Expand's power plug in order to start it.
Please press and hold the setup button for 10 more seconds.
  4. After max. 30 seconds the outer and inner LEDs will start to blink alternatingly. This indicates that the recovery has been started. Please note that the recovery may take up to 5 minutes. After that, the Expand will reboot automatically.
Do I need a Raumfeld Expand (previously named Base)?
A Raumfeld Expand is recommended in a multi room system. If you would only like to play music in a single room you only need a playback device and a controller (Raumfeld Controller or Teufel Raumfeld app for your smartphone).

Role of the Raumfeld Expand
  • By creating a dedicated Wi-Fi network it provides the bandwidth for a lossless transmission
  • By connecting to your home network the Expand is able to access your music stored on a computer or NAS (network attached storage). With the Raumfeld Controller you then have access to your complete digital music library.
  • If you own a Raumfeld Expand the size of your music library may exceed 200,000 tracks. Instead, without the Raumfeld Expand, the maximum capacity of your music database is about 50,000 tracks.

Should you wish to extend your system with a Raumfeld Expand, get in touch with our customer service team.
Wo finde ich entsprechende Software-Updates?
Software-Updates finden Sie auf der entsprechenden Software-Update-Seite.
I have no more access to the internet radio directory TuneIn in my Teufel Raumfeld app. What could be the reason?
For the further use of the radio service TuneIn, a software update may be required. The update is free of charge and only takes a few minutes. The software can easily be checked and updated:
  1. Start up all devices and opening the Teufel Raumfeld App.
  2. The main menu can now be called up on the app screen by briefly swiping to the right.
  3. First select "Settings" in the main menu, then menu item "System maintenance" and finally "Updates". By simply tapping on the "Check for updates" button, the device will automatically start to search for and download the latest version.
  4. After the download is complete, the update can be re-started by pressing the button again. This takes a maximum of about 3-5 minutes. Afterwards, TuneIn can be used again as usual.
I can find settings for my subwoofer in the Teufel Raumfeld app. What are these for?
The menu items "subwoofer volume" and "subwoofer crossover frequency" are only stored in the app menu under "room settings" if a Teufel Streaming soundbar is operated over the same Wi-Fi connection. With a soundbar/subwoofer combination, the sound signal is "distributed" to the devices, i.e. the sounbar outputs the higher frequencies and the subwoofer, the lower ones. This signal distribution is defined under the menu item "subwoofer crossover frequency". Installation tips:
  • Leave the crossover frequency on the default setting if you are satisfied with the sound or if the Teufel Streaming subwoofer is located close to the soundbar (recommended).
  • If the subwoofer is placed at the side or at the back of the room, it is possible that the overall sound may no longer be harmonious. In this case, try changing the crossover frequency in the app until you are satisfied with the sound.
  • If, for example, the sound image of the soundbar is too thin, reduce the crossover frequency. If the bass sounds too flat, increase the crossover frequency.
  • You can also adjust the subwoofer volume separately.
The Teufel Raumfeld app setup wizard does not find a device after pressing the setup key on the back of the device. The display shows "Searching for device..." or "No device found". What can I do?
There are many reasons why a Teufel Streaming device may not be found during setup, i.e. when the app displays the notifications "Searching for device“ or "Not found”. The following will cover the most likely causes as well as possible solutions.

1) It’s possible that your home Wi-Fi is unable to recognise the device due to certain settings on your Wi-Fi router.

Solution: You can enable your Wi-Fi to recognise the device by directly connecting the Teufel Streaming device to your router via Ethernet cable and repeating the setup process.

2) Other active network devices may prevent your Wi-Fi router from recognising the device. Solution: Deactivate all devices (such as smart TVs, laptops, smartphones, tablets, AV receivers, media servers) that use your LAN or Wi-Fi network for the duration of the Teufel Streaming setup process. Before beginning a new setup process, be sure to restart your Wi-Fi router and complete the setup using a single smartphone.

3) The use of switches, repeaters and additional access points within your home Wi-Fi network can hinder device recognition. Solution: Either restart all additional network devices or turn off these devices for the duration of the setup process.

4) If you use a cordless phone over a landline (DECT) and have this phone in the vicinity of your router or Teufel Streaming device, it may be disrupting your Wi-Fi signal. This is because both DECT and Wi-Fi use the same 2.4 GHz signal.

Solution: Relocate your DECT base station or switch off your DECT telephone for the duration of the setup process.
The Teufel Raumfeld app indicates an error after selecting the Wi-Fi and entering the network key (Wi-Fi password). What could be the reason for this?
If you're using a smart device with the Android operating system version 5.X (Lollipop), the problem could caused by two possible smart device settings:

1) The setting "Smart network change" switches the smart device to the mobile network whenever the WiFi signal becomes too weak. Since Teufel Streaming requires a continuous Wi-Fi connection, this setting cannot be used.

2) The "Auto IP Support" function determines when the home Wi-Fi network does not support DHCP (the automatic assignation of a network address). Although a very useful feature, Auto IP Support cannot be used with the Teufel Streaming system. This is because Teufel Streaming devices need to be assigned an IP from the router in order to independently communicate with the home network and internet.

Solution: The Android functions "Smart network change" and "Auto IP Support" should be deactivated. Next, ensure that your router allows for DHCP and then repeat the setup process.
During setup, the Wi-Fi network via which the system is to be integrated in the future must be selected in the app. However, my home network is not listed in the selection list. What could be the reason?
The following are a few reasons why your Wi-Fi network may not appear in the list presented in the app:

1) If the signal strength of your Wi-Fi network is only 30% or less where you are holding your phone, it will not appear. Since the system requires a signal strength greater than 30% in order to function without drops in playback, only networks that offer this minimum signal strength will be displayed.

Solution: Increase the signal strength of your Wi-Fi signal and/or find a better place for your device.

2) It’s technically possible to hide a Wi-Fi network. This option is usually offered in a Wi-Fi router’s settings. If you’ve selected this setting option, your home network will not be displayed within the app.

Solution: Make sure that the Wi-Fi is set to "visible“.
I connected the Sounddeck / Soundbar to my television via HDMI cable. The device is recognized yet no sound - or only partial sound - is produced. What can I do?
Please check to see whether your television supports the HDMI-ARC standard and whether the product is connected to your TV from this output. Alternately, you can use a digital-optical cable to connect the two devices.

It's also a good idea to check the sound setting on your television (or set top box). This should be set to PCM or stereo. If the audio signal travels from the set top box to the product via the television, please make sure that both devices have been correctly configured, or connect the audio signal from the source device to the product directly.
I have a Raumfeld Soundbar/Sounddeck connected to my TV via HDMI cable. Whenever I start apps like Netflix or Amazon Prime via the TV menu, I don’t hear any sound. What can I change in the system settings so that I hear playback with these services?
Switch the TV sound setting to PCM (stereo) in your television's menu. If your television doesn’t offer PCM (stereo/downmix) as an option, you can connect the Soundbar via an analog TV output (e.g. Headphone output).
How can I configure the type of television connection on my Soundbar?
In order to change the type of connection, open the Raumfeld App and go to “Room configuration“ (under Settings/room configuration/room name/device) and change the type of connection to “TV input” in the drop down menu.
What’s the purpose of the 1 to 4 buttons on the remote?
The buttons serve two purposes. If the Soundbar is connected via HDMI-ARC, AUX or OPT, you’ll be able to use these buttons to select from the various Wellenfeld modes. When playing back audio via Raumfeld’s music streaming function, the buttons 1 – 4 serve as preset buttons for saving your favorite streams.
How can I select one of the four Wellenfeld modes and what do they do?
For playback via TV, AUX or OPT connection, the buttons marked 1 – 4 on the included remote can be used to select the desired Wellenfeld mode. The setting can also be accessed via the Raumfeld App. (Menu path: Settings/Room configuration/”Room name”/Device name/Wellenfeld mode)

The following settings can be selected:
  1. Stereo Mode: The sound is similar to that produced by a classic stereo system. Select this mode to enjoy music with a broad stereo soundstage. (Button 1)
  2. Arena Mode: This mode employs side-mounted drivers to create an especially broad sound panorama. (Button 2)
  3. Theater Mode: The Theater Mode creates a broad soundstage together with heightened speech intelligibility.
  4. Voice Mode: This mode elevates the voice frequency range for enhanced speech intelligibility while using the side-mounted drivers to subtly broaden the soundstage. (Button 4)
I am unable to find any setting options for DTS or Dolby Digital on the Soundbar. How can I activate these audio codecs with my movies?
The Teufel Raumfeld Soundbar does not offer decoders for DTS or Dolby Digital. This is because the Soundbar uses Wellenfeld Technology, specially developed by Raumfeld for the creation of room-filling sound from a single loudspeaker enclosure. We decided not to include Dolby Digital or DTS because, while they are excellent sound technologies, they are only of limited use with single-enclosure systems such as the Raumfeld Soundbar. Intended for surround sound speaker systems, neither codec will be able to produce a truly convincing surround panorama from a soundbar.
There’s a night mode in the device settings. What is its purpose?
The night mode reduces bass levels while simultaneously enhancing the speech intelligibility of the system. This mode is perfect for those who don’t want to disturb their neighbors or for adjusting the system to account for individual room acoustics.
I have a Raumfeld Soundbar with subwoofer. I located the option for setting the subwoofer’s crossover frequency and volume within the app. What is this for?
Under the menu option "Subwoofer crossover frequency,” you can determine up to what frequency the subwoofer should play. We recommend leaving the crossover frequency at its factory setting if you plan to position the Raumfeld Soundbar in the immediate vicinity of the subwoofer. If the subwoofer is placed further away, such as towards the back of the room, a less harmonious soundstage may result. In this case, you can change the subwoofer’s crossover frequency in the app until you are happy with the sound. If, for instance, the Soundbar’s soundstage seems too thin, you can lower the crossover frequency. If the bass seems too flat, simply raise the crossover frequency.

It’s also possible to perfect the system’s soundstage by altering the subwoofer’s volume levels.
The remote control that came with the system doesn’t work. What can I do?
Before using the remote, you need to remove the plastic tab from the end. The plastic tab prevents the batteries from being engaged while the device is transported. Next, press the 1 and 4 buttons at the same time for a total of 10 seconds while standing near the Soundbar. This procedure introduces the two devices to each other and only needs to be carried out once. Once paired, the two devices will henceforth automatically recognize each other.
How do I connect my Soundbar to my television?
Televisions can be connected with an HDMI-ARC cable (recommended), optical digital cable (TOS-LINK) or RCA cable. The Soundbar was pre-configured for the HDMI-ARC connection. Therefore, if your TV offers an HDMI-ARC connection, it’s best to connect both devices with a compatible HDMI cable. This is all the two devices will need in order to communicate with each other. If you plan to connect the Soundbar with an optical digital or RCA cable, you’ll need to adjust the settings.

In order to change the type of connection, open the Raumfeld App and open the “Room configuration“ option (under Settings/room configuration/room name/device) and change the type of connection to “TV input” in the drop down menu.
The product has integrated Wellenfeld Technology. What is this and what does it do?
The Wellenfeld Technology developed by our acousticians here in Berlin uses four different sound modes (Stereo, Arena, Theater and Voice) in order to perfectly adapt the sound to the type of audio being played back.
Wie wechsle ich die Batterie der Teufel Streaming Soundbar/Raumfeld Soundbar? Fernbedienung RFRC1?
No sound with high sample rates (Connector 2)
The Raumfeld Connector allows playback of music files with very high sample rates (up to 192 kBit). By connecting it to your stereo receiver you are able to enjoy high resoultion music files on your stereo set.

Unfortunately not all stereo receivers can process high sample rates on the optical input. If the Connector sends a signal with a higher sample rate than your stereo receiver is able to process it will not play the signal. Hence there is no sound.

In order to solve this problem the Connector offers the configuration option "Maximum sample rate on optical output". You will find it under Settings > Room Configuration > (Room name of Connector) > Connector.

This option allows you to set the maximum sample rate your stereo receiver is able to process. The Connector will then down-sample material with a higher sample rate to the denoted maximum sample rate.
I have a Connector connected to my system via a digital optical cable and sometimes experience drops in the music stream. What can I do to ensure even playback?
You can adjust the maximum sampling rate in the Connector’s configuration menu within the Raumfeld App. Try reducing this rate until your streams of music play without drops. If this does not help, activate the “fixed clock” option by checking the box. You’ll find the Connector’s configuration menu in the Raumfeld App under Settings>Room Configuration>Your Rooms(Select Connector) > Room Details(Select Connector again).
