No subwoofer needed Ultima 40 is designed as a full-range stereo speaker. It delivers the entire frequency range evenly thanks to its significant volume, large membrane surface area and the intricate networks regulating its frequency crossover. So no additional subwoofer is needed – Ultima 40's integrated bass is sure to satisfy.
3-way construction, double bass drivers More than one metre tall, the Ultima 40 speaker enclosures are available in black or birch. Inside is a three-way construction: above the two 165 mm bass drivers, a 165 mm mid-range driver covers the 500 Hz to 2500 Hz range from its own chamber. The mid-range driver is supported in the high ranges by a 25 mm mesh dome tweeter.
Combine with amplifiers Thanks to its non-critical impedance and high degree of efficiency (87 dB), the Ultima 40 can be combined with nearly any amplifier. The speakers benefit from increased power output up to a 200 watt maximum.
Bi-wire/Bi-amp 
Ultima 40's port box features stabile, gold-plated screw terminals which are laid out doubly for sound optimisation via bi-wiring (using an additional loudspeaker cable) or bi-amping (using an additional amplifier).
